I’m meeting up with someone tomorrow and I’m hoping I can close the deal on the spot for this 1st Edition Charizard. It’s a long time dream of mine.
This is the only picture I have, but I can already see that the left corner has exposed foil and there appears to be a crease on the right corner. I don’t have any back pictures or pictures without the sleeve.
Since I’m trying to determine the pricing on the condition, I’m hoping just based on this picture, what kind of PSA rating I could possibly see? I heard with a crease, it’s already max 6. I know there is a lot of unknowns, but hoping for your best estimate!
Sorry I know it’s really hard to give a good estimate without more pictures, I’m trying not to stir the pot too much with the seller and to just deal with them when we meet in person.
Hypothetically, if the card under the sleeve was perfect, same with the back. The only defects being the ones I mentioned, what did you guys think it could be? Cusp of PSA 5 and 6?
If the back is perfect you would only get a 6 if the grader was as inhibited as I am right now. If the back is terrible (and given the state of the front I would bet my gold star pikachu that it is) then its max 5 and most likely less.
Ofc this is imo and I am under influences. But I wouldn’t pay more than what you would expect to pay for a PSA 4.
Bottom line though you should invest in loose rarely ever expecting best case scenario. Pay graded price for graded cards I always say. Although this does happen to be the first time I’ve ever said that.
I would say that it would have a very good chance at 5-6 under those conditions, but remember…grading is subjective, so you could get higher/lower depending on the individual grader! Either way use your best judgement, if you want the card and it’s a fair deal, I’d go for it as any Charizard is a great collection piece!
Thanks everyone for your input. I ended up seeing the card in person and it was really rough. Could not negotiate a reasonable price with the seller, oh well.
Only one crease as far as I can see on that 4. However, not sure if they grade a mid-card crease harsher than a corner crease. Centering looks comparable, though. With all that in mind, I highly doubt the face of the card would be unmarred. SO yeah, 4 or 5, but more leaning towards 4.
