Post your favorite secondary-typed cards!

I love when Pokemon have interesting dual type combos in the games. In the tcg there isn’t a ton of representation for secondary types. I know some sets like hidden legends did dual types but tbh I don’t really like how that looks.

Let me see some secondary type representation!

I came here to post Skyridge Starmie, one of my favorite cards of all time.

I also have a fond memory of Neo Discovery Poliwrath because as a kid it really blew my mind to see Poliwrath represented as fighting type.

This was the first card that wasn’t the most obvious expected typing and it’s never left me.

Semi-Related: Can we talk about how Lugia is almost always represented as colorless despite being Water/Psychic, two types that are never otherwise represented as such?

I can’t think of any other Pokémon represented this way in the TCG.

Edit: I’m sleepy and messed up, I meant to say it has been depicted as WATER despite not being water type!

lugia is psychic/flying! hence the colorless typing

The Ho-Oh is so perfect with the normal type, really compliments the artwork well. Normal cards in general, like all the Dragon types.

Such a shame that we never got a leaf type Armaldo, the Legend Maker ex would’ve been perfect for it, that card is held back by the fighting color. No leaf Gengar either through gen 3, which would’ve been dope.

It’s also interesting how some Pokemon are rarely portrayed with their primary type, like Tyranitar.

Omg I’m so dumb I messed it up. Lugia was often depicted as WATER despite not being water type.

Sorry about that. I drove a friend to the airport at 4 AM and my brain is busted.

Huh, this thread just made me realise we’ve had multiple dark type Charizards, but not a single colourless one to represent the lizard’s flying typing!

It’s a travesty, same story with the birds if we discount the trio GX cards (which I do.)

Articuno especially would’ve made a fine Colorless card (looking at you cosmos Silver Tempest.) Moltres too, though Zapdos…more difficult but not impossible. Maybe the Rocket’s ex or the Majestic Dawn.

Here are a random few that sprung to mind:

Ooh, those are all very good examples of where they robbed us of colourless legendary birds! I’d kill for that ST Articuno to have been colourless.

Well sorta on a technicality

Haha, sorta!

I always class the crystal types as their own thing, since even the card background has that unique crystalline pattern, rather than the usual colourless one.

Not exactly a secondary type, but since Koffing is pure poison, it gets the luxury of having its main type switched every couple gens as there is no poison type card in the game :joy:
Its had multiple cards in three main tcg types (currently Dark type). Bonus points for TRR Dark Weezing.

To this day Gyarados has never been recognized in the TCG for its Flying typing. Dark? Yes. Fire? Been there done that. Electric and Steel? Sure.

But Flying can buzz off.

Sadly there’s no corresponding Sceptile ex since Sceptile is a pure grass type but the Blaziken equivalent to the Swampert ex you posted is this fighting type Blaziken ex from ex crystal guardians
