This is huge huge news. Pokémon never got an official release in China, just in HK and Taiwan, and even then the games never came out in Chinese.
The fact Nintendo is releasing the new game in simplified and traditional means this has just opened up to over a billion more people. That’s awesome.
People in Taiwan aren’t happy with the Chinese name though. Nintendo have gone with 精靈寶可夢 rather than 神奇宝贝, which is what it has always been branded as in Taiwan.
I want some cool Legendaries. One cotrols nightmares, other one controls dreams, but they are good guys both. But Team “something” turns night one bad, with its help they put half of this Spain region into endless nightmare. Suddenly, player attacks them with help of mighty dream legendary and together they destroy them.
Oh, wait… There’re Cresselia and Darkrai already…
The only one I really agree with is the HM thing; they are nothing more than a nuisance that prevents me from using a full battle-capable 6 Pokemon team during my playthroughs. Aside from Surf (and maybe Fly/Waterfall to a lesser extent) the moves are so useless that they basically force you to have an HM slave. It doesn’t do anything for immersion either, I find it hard to believe that you’d be stopped by a tree in the road because your Scyther doesn’t actually know the move Cut, or that the boulder in your way would be an issue with a Machamp on your team.
Cloud storage for Pokemon to replace the PC system does also sound like a neat idea though. If you can even trade Pokemon while you’re out on the field, there’s no reason to have to visit a Pokemon Center to withdraw them.
