The problem is that this plot doesn’t tell me anything about the market, it just indicates how you scaled up operation over time. At one point you were pumping SGC and now you’re selling raw. That alone will shift your graph dramatically.
Sure I’m just trying to tell you people are trying to have a conversation. If anything I’ve agreed with your points about the market not being stagnant and sgc being solid. Anyway, I’m just trying to chill you out with the intense reactions to people asking normal questions.
You use these threads to show off gross sales numbers. The volume and gross sales numbers leave people with questions and wanting confirmation from you about inventory and margins. You respond with vitrol towards anyone who just want a clearer picture of your current selling situation.
Because you continue to make these types of threads and only provide the most rosy details, it comes off as gloating/bragging. People here would be cheering you on if you actually wanted to engage in constructive/informative conversation rather than you being hostile/dismissive towards everyone.
We hope you have the best success in this hobby. I wish I could sell like you. I’ve always been good at buying and lousy at selling.
Ask this guy how, pretty close to what cards i sell. under $1 cards for $4-8 . But my customers pay for shipping i dont do that much over $50 cards.
24,000+ cards sold this year. So my market is lower end than him.
I’m not exactly sure how this is not getting through, but like others have said, gross sales alone barely mean anything. People here are mostly interested in what you sell and what’s your year to date margins, that would actually give people something to discuss, if you’re not looking to share those I don’t really understand the point of this thread is either.
A person who claims he has no time to make stupid videos but has masses of time to carefully pick every negative tone from posts here and only blast hate accusations towards them is either not very smart or is extremely smart troll, based on how long this has continued and how much time and effort has been put into this thread i’m leaning in latter option. And behalf of everyone’s sanity i think we should stop feeding that troll.
This 100%
It’s not a criticism of how much time you may or may not be spending on work. I’m just trying to figure out if your claims are actually feasible. I don’t sell things on eBay, I have no idea how much time it takes. I’d be curious to hear from someone who does. Aside from you of course; no reason to expect you to do anything other than validate your own claims or just be as obtuse as possible.
and you are here wasting your time with something you cannot comprehend .
The initial intention of this thread was to show the health, trend and direction of the Pokemon sector. Many people want to turn this into a $$$$$$ "how much is profit " thread.
Need to thank you all. Decided to try and put some extra casual effort into selling pokemon cards the last few days putting in 5-8 hours a day.
last 7 days
$17,513.00 Gross sales
$14,752.04 revenue
2255 cards sold
profits are between $8,000-$10,000+ (not going to itemize to be more specific)
2024 = 25759 cards sold up to yesterday
It is what it is. Enjoy the numbers. Market is healthy
What are the major time sinks for the kind of selling you do?
Is it listing the cards themselves? Or processing cards? or something else?
Packing is the most horrible part of selling volume. HORRIBLE.
What are some lessons that you learned as you scaled your business?
Not in order of importance . Here are some from a long list . Just started last year, there is so much more to learn.
- Study tax laws by mid year
- What works with smaller scale operation does not work with large scale volume
- Supplies can shut your operation down. have 2 sources for supplies. Simple things like thermal paper to toploaders can shut you down for days.
-Use amazon and walmart as your warehouse. Space is money
-Saving time is more important than cheapest. Simple things like paying a little more for folding boxes , better tape and even better quality labels or thermal paper helps save time.
- Always watch what others do and learn . The market changes everyday with everything, not only with Pokemon.
There is much more i learned.
EDIT: The majority youtube Pokemon investor influencers are idiots
I think we can find common ground here good sir (though maybe a tad harsh lol)
I’ll make it even harsher. A quote from someone who collected mtg and got into pokemon, “most pokemon YouTubers are poor people giving investment advice”.
