Pokemon Fruit Roll up Promos.

Love how every video he miraculously pulls a Holo from a wotc set :smirk:OOOOOMMMGGGG :expressionless:

by rule of thumb if every video thumbnail on their channel looks like their oh face

i’ll avoid it like the plague

I like Leonhart.

His thumbnails are cringe and he’s starting to use that dumb music every other YouTuber uses, but his enthusiasm for the hobby is genuine and he tends to drop real knowledge on older cards. His audience is definitely younger and he caters to them, but I won’t fault him for that.

I sent him a feedback email after he uploaded a fake booster box opening a few months ago and he responded within an hour. He explained why he does it but understood my concerns (fakes in circulation, kids ripped off). A month or so ago he ended up opening the remainder of his fake booster boxes in a video and explained that he was done with purchasing these due to the damage they do to the community. He also tried to detail the differences between fakes and real cards throughout the video.

I do enjoy his vintage openings, and the music he plays during them is perfection. I owe my involvement in this hobby to him. His Base Set booster box opening randomly appeared on my feed one day and it reignited a flame that had been asleep for a long time. He also gets kudos for using Scott in his top 10 most expensive cards.

I’m actually curious how that video was created. From what I understand, Scott, you weren’t really aware of Leonhart a couple years ago. Did he reach out to you for input?

This right here is a thing of beauty!

I watched one of his videos and am devastated I’ll never get that 15 minutes back. He’s soooooo annoying. I can see little kids following him though.

The box art in that vid’s thumbnail got my hopes up for a special holo magikarp though :slightly_frowning_face:

I have fond memories of that gold bordered meowth, highlight of my young collecting career at the time

I can’t knock Leonhart. He knows his audience and targets them well. I tired doing my own you tube thing for a while but I just don’t have the time. By the time I went though my normal day and then filmed I had no time left over so I can respect the amount of effort that goes it. I do like the fact that he is exposing a new generation of collectors to older cards and products though openings and whatnot…that being said, older and more established collectors will likely not favor him.

Don’t know this guy but this is the expression I would use if I had really bad front teeth lmao

Apparently these are in stores already - just spotted some in southern California:

Been trying to do some research on the original Pokemon rolls released in 1999. I knew about the gold border meowth, but I didn’t realize you could also get a card featuring pikachu, bulbasaur, squirtle or charmander. Did these cards feature some unique feature or artwork? Or were they just commons from base set?

You’ve never heard of the Fruit Roll-Up Charmander? It’s only one of the rarest cards out there! Haha

No, that whole thing is just a joke. Someone listed an Unlimited Base Set Charmander on eBay awhile back for something ridiculous for like $5,000.00 calling it an elusive “Fruit Roll-Up Error”.

If anything this just gives me an excuse to eat fruit roll ups.

just been looking for information on these and from what i can find there was the pikachu, charmander, squirtle and bulbasaur but they where only unlimited prints nothing different about them. still funny thought there is someone in england at the moment trying to see a charmander for £40k saying there is only 10 of them in the world.

Yeah I bought tons of the fruit snacks promo in 1998. The other cards were the same as basic commons from the base set. The meowth was the exclusive ultra rare!

I actually checked them out online after watching one of his vids (He is a bit much, but I like the vintage pack openings). They had listed “Shadowless” theme decks for 120 sealed. Turns out they had that totally wrong because they were not gold striped and they had no way of really knowing. After speaking with them it was taken down very quickly. I almost bought it too! They are friendly though.

I think he’s GREAT for the hobby and ushers in a new generation of collectors. That said, his channel is shit if you’re over 10 years old. He’s making money off kids via youtube ads but he’s entertaining them at the same time. Good for him. No hate, but no appreciation either.

Back on topic:

These are actually proving to be a lot harder to get than the General Mills Cereal promo packs. Unless they seriously ramp up the number being distributed to different stores or drag the distribution out a lot longer than the cereal version, this could be a pain to pick up later. Worth grabbing a pack or two for the collection, IMO. Unique stuff like this will always have a following.

Not finding any packs for sale online, just one person listed the holos but at a rather high price.

any spotted these in Canada yet?

I got boxes in southern California. I’m the one who listed them for high on ebay because there are no others for sale lol.
