Considering buying the plush on eBay at roughly $50, any opinions from those of you in Japan? Seems like a fair markup for what’ll probably be a very difficult to find plush.
Any tips, or just waiting? All the ones I see on Ebay are still crazy prices. I have never used a proxy service but can you point me in the right direction?
You can use some of the proxy services listed in @smpratte 's Japanese Marketplace List. I made a post on the second page of that thread, linking directly to the Pokeémon TCG sections on those sites.
You can search for “ポケモン ムンク展” on those sites to find the various promotional items from this event. Mercari now has a couple of buy-it-now listings for 2,333 JPY (~$21), like item.mercari.com/jp/m54474320050. To purchase from Mercari you’ll want to use a service like vvjapan.com - I’ve used them several times in the past and their service is great; just be warned that they’re based in Japan and it’s a manual service, so you’re not going to get a quick response if they’re fast asleep.
I’m not Japanese, but I can say that they’ve been selling on Mercari for around 4,000 JPY (~$36) - here’s one which is for sale right now. After postage and possible import fees, you’d probably be better off buying one for $50 from eBay.

Ok, I hope I don’t take a beating for saying this.
Even though I love Japanese Promos and this set looked quite ok in digital form, having seen photos of the real Mimikyu card, I have to say I find it aesthetically awful. Oddly enough, I think it’s the white border that makes it look so bad.
The keychain thingies have a painting-like border which captures the essence of the campaign much more efficiently than the TCG. With so much experimentation going on with Japanese promos, I whish they had taken a leap of faith and printed the cards with the same border as the below example.
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to me this looks so much better, I thought I’d vent a bit. 
Shit, it would have looked so cool with a picture frame border like that…

They are starting to get a little bit more reasonable, but still a little high for me, what do you think? I guess you can always put in a best offer .
I think one person having 10 this early on is really promising for future price drops.
Also, going rate on facebook is already down to $40 for Mimikyu.

Is there information on the release date of the cards? It seems each card will be released on a different date. I think I will hold off on buying anything until at least all of them are officially released.

I’d be really skeptical about buying a Pikachu card just yet. It sounds like that will be the most limited one.

and ONLY available if you haul your ass to the Munch Art Exhibition @ The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

Mimikyu is already released on the 27th, and is available ONLY through the purchase of a clear file. Mimikyu is ‘easier’ to obtain as its available online and onsite at the Pokemon Center.
Ofcourse: 1 per person (I think this can be abused tho…)
Eevee, Rowlet, and Psyduck will be available with the release of SM GX Ultra Shiny High Class Packs on November 2nd. Every 2 booster packs you buy, you get to choose one of the three promos. These are UNAVAILABLE through the Pokemon Center online.

Can you explain why you are skeptical of the pikachu card? Wouldn’t it being the most limited card make it a good idea to get it early?
I’m skeptical because there’s no proof that the current eBay sellers actually own the cards. They might just be placeholder auctions for when the card becomes available - and then they may find it a lot harder to acquire as many cards as they think they can sell.

Or price goes up and they simply cancel the transactions and re sell them at a higher price.
Any pikachu order right now is invalid till like rememberence day since it needs to ship within 30 days. Not sure what ebay does in those cases.
