Mystery Boxes at Pokémoncenter.com

Looks like PokemonCenter is getting in on the mystery box fad. At $50 a box I have a hard time believing the contents would be worth purchasing. Any thoughts on how these will do?

They are the kings of unsellable crap inventory. Usually they just slap a stamp on a promo to include with a purchase though. This seems far worse

Totally agree, personally I don’t understand how they have such a seemly bad handle on the types of products their customers want. A select few items sell out nearly instantly, while a decent amount sit for months on end.

I can’t imagine this will be anything but a box of un-sellable Sitting Cuties, some sleeves, or random T-shirt. Maybe a single pack of a bad set tossed in for shits and giggles.

I just saw that, a little more than I thought. But still not great.

If the box included a unique promo it would sell well. But this is just a way to offload a bunch of junk

Value for amount if junk is there if youre in the market for random pokemon junk. These would make decent content for a bit and i can see people enjoying the “official mystery boxes”. Doesnt seem like there is or needs to be a jackpot pull for it.

I will give some credit, it’s not really a mystery box in terms of value. They list all the types of items you WILL get. There isn’t a “randomly inserted god box”

The target audience for these is probably parents who’s kids asked for “pogeymanz” for Christmas

Absolutely, and at $50, its pretty decent for the amount of stuff in it. I won’t be getting one, but I know some people that will love this for their kids.

I’m surprised that they’re advertising SM and it’s not exclusively SWSH/SV

Of course they’re advertising sun and moon. That’s how this stuff works

Yep, exactly this. These sorts of products will obviously get a bit of stick from more serious collectors but they’re basically the perfect gift you can get a kid who’s into Pokemon. And its randomised so you can get one for each of your little demon spawns and no one will be mad that they got the same thing

With this being the 2nd “offload junk” attempt in just a few months, it’s safe to say Pokémon International could hire someone better to determine product quantities to order.

Right this feels like they should’ve just printed more pokepost promos and kept trying to offload

That’s what I was thinking. Feels like a good gift for people who know someone who nebulously likes Pokemon

What was the first time?

The Pokémon Together stamped promos put into bundles of junk product, this past summer

Ahhh I remember those. Wasn’t aware they were put in with other products. Thanks!
