You know what I find so funny these days? My close friends that are also mid to late 30s have kids that are into pokemon, but the parents do know what they are, because we were all the first generation of anime and the japan craze coming to the west. Granted, these two women weren’t interested at all when we were 9/10 but they did have cards and grew up with other kids around them going crazy for pokemon.
My best friend threw her kid a pokemon birthday party and I asked her, “isn’t this crazy? I bet you never thought you’d have a pokemon birthday party for your son back when we were in school” and she told me she didn’t get pokemon then or now. But I can assure you she can name way more characters now, after listening to her kids talk and watching them play the games.
