Logan Paul Latest Confirmed Purchase

It’s only a good thing for Pokemon. Love him or hate him, he brings incredible exposure to the hobby and helps to grow it. Again multiple headlines about Pokemon in newspapers etc I’m guessing he probably has a lot more plans with possibly a video series again - he isn’t here for the short term in my opinion, he’s here to stay and has been engaging in the hobby for more then 1 year now.

Not sure about how this could influence the market, but it’s certainly a positive sign when a celebrity with an incredible net worth and platform invests a significant portion of his net worth into high end Pokemon cards.

I wonder if he is inspired by your influence and platform to try help the hobby grow

yolo and based.

At this point, he can clear out catacombs and replace every resident each with a 1st ed Chansey.

Is this the new content creator megathread?

Wrapped by who?

When I read that name I get the same feeling as 20 years ago.
At that time Magic judges were hired to judge Pokemon tournaments.
Same for the box, Baseball expert telling you something about Pokemon cards.

I’m purely waiting for the large sale from Scott. 1st Ed Base is cool for the majority, but I’m too deep and need to see trophies moving,

I’m eager to learn about the sale as well. I don’t really care too much about this logan paul news

Regardless of your opinion on LP, this brings more publicity, liquidity and recognition to the hobby. As others have said a celebrity with a vested interest in the hobby, while sometimes cringe, is a net positive.

Even tho people are complaining about sharing the price, I feel like the transparency allows us to have a lot less speculation. Lot of exposure. Wonder if there will be a vlog about it too. But dope to see it.

I find it interesting that some people react so negatively to these high-profile events, going so far as to say “who cares”. I’m not just referring to posts in this thread. I’ve seen the reaction in Discord as well.

Do we say “who cares” on everyone’s collection threads? Obviously not. Yet for whatever reason when it is a celebrity making a big purchase that becomes the default reaction for some people. I’m pretty sure most of those same people would act quite a bit different if Logan wasn’t popular and there were fewer zeroes on the price tag. It just seems like jealousy to me.

Transactions like this are a big deal for the hobby. Like it or not these events do increase exposure and that ultimately affects everyone here in one way or another.

I think the “who cares” comes from a lot of peoples expectations of others caring. I personally don’t have any strong feelings on this. Yet I don’t think it should be seen negatively, it could lead to some cool things

IMO that kind of apathy comes stems from some deep seated jealously or otherwise misguided distain of Pokemon youtubers. Seems like a lot of folks in this community don’t like the boisterous, big personalities that most big Pokemon youtubers have.

I agree – stuff like this only serve to increase exposure, and are exciting, regardless of your view of Logan Paul

This in nothing personal just something I wonder about.

Is it a kind of natural evolution for collectors.
You start with buying not knowing what, just go inside a store and buy pack.
You evolve and order cards by set and focus on completing set.
You evolve more and go collect graded cards and further on you want higher grades.
Next step you want trophies (cards I think) most of all Japanese

Or a next step could be collecting miscuts or something more rare.
Is that what happens to a part of the collectors?
You want more but you need to have an unique position??

Thing is, which kind of exposure, not all exposure is positive.

You cannot say “this is good for the hobby”, it is a major event for sure but positive or negative is something very subjective.

Dang. Giving away a whole box.

For me, that is pretty much my story. I liked graded cards as soon as I saw them and bought my first one around 2015 which was a 1st edition PSA 10 Fossil Dragonite. Slowly grabbed a few cards for the next few years, and only liked grabing singles. I grabbed a binder of the first 151 for around $200 a few years ago as that is the only cards I remembered. Grabbed some Neos and started going hard last year.

Now, trophies and true rarity are my jam!

WOW, here we go again, Logan Paul shilling and manipulating the market. He’s not even a real collector. This is only going to hurt the market and bring in more scalpers.

Everyone today:
Logan’s giving away 36 1st Edition Base Set packs?… well count me in :3 XD hehe

The guy makes more money talking about his latest blowjob than you did working the last decade. Now he’s here, rocking the boat for a living and buying all the things you’ll never afford, and it’s all built on drama. Of course people are jealous, haha.

But why do people think Logan Paul threads are about Logan Paul? He’s a vessel for high-end Pokemon, isn’t that’s why anyone here gives a fuck? He’s in no need of being defended with half-assed psychoanalysis or leaking inner mantra “still positive, still positive”.

That said, I understand where it comes from, because people…how does the saying go, throw the baby out with the bathwater? Obviously a 1st ed base case changing hands is a huge fucking deal regardless of who it went to.
