Glad to hear you’ve been playing. My friend just called me today asking for clarification on our next roster extension for our Crystal. We are reaching deep at the bottom of the barrel and trying to make some of the weaker Pokemon competitive at the lvl 100 1v1 tournaments!
Feraligatr is an easy favorite Gen 2 starter.

I chose this one because I just love seeing Wartortle headbutt helplessly against Mr. Mime’s wall

I painted Primal Kyogre & Chikorita
Chikorita’s a little more unrefined, and you can see some of the pencil marks haha
But I usually don’t mind these showing through, even in my landscapes.

As a kid, I remember wanting to have one of my own, that I would be able to fly on 
Still such a good design too in my opinion.
We’ve gotten SO MANY new bird type pokemon, and this one definitely holds up on the visual side.

Decided to mix things up and do a pencil & pen sketch today.
One of the most BADASS pokemon in my opinion - Mega Steelix!
Had a ton of fun rendering all the light and shadow using crosshatching.
And as a side-note, got one of my newest acquisitions today - love these 3d Zukans

So! After doing Mega Steelix I had a crazy itch to paint Steelix’s natural form.
Here goes!
As a kid, I remember Onix being one of the coolest pokemon, and we of course only had Gen I back then.
So when I found later it has an EVOLUTION, I was amazed. Plus it was one of the first METAL pokemon introduced, a very smart move.
So big fanboy here

Was interesting moving away from the Ken Sugimori style.
