LEONHART pop up shop

1 WORD. CRINGE.

No energy, no excitement, quiet, boring, not fun, no feel of 90s card shop, no feel of being a kid in 99. Worst fail of a pokemon event. Sorry Leonhart love ya but take the big L on this one!

AAAAAND im sure this will get the delete again…

I finally did. I wanted to keep hope alive that it would get better :slightly_frowning_face:

But we’re you able to buy some cool stuff?

It’s not the point. If people flew from across the country and got a hotel it’s less value than the trip costs…

It honestly just gives you great respect for how good the actual companies who put on these events are at what they do.

I guess so. To me it’s a choice whether or not you have fun at an event. You can’t always expect to be entertained. Be the one having a great time. It’s what my dad always told me. But different strokes for different folks

@nostalgianomics, I agree it lacks energy, but he tried to do something positive. No need to knock him down so aggressively.

Well every person they talk to says they are loving it, just because the stream is underwhelming doesn’t mean it is a major fail. There is a difference between the front row of a concert and a live stream concert right?

I get that and be positive and all but at some point it can’t be sunshine and rainbows and truth has to be spoken. Especially if others plan to do events like this in the future I would hope they take the negatives of this and rework it into something enjoyable for the fans and the attendees that spend their time and money to attend and support. Thats all.

What exactly are you missing though? What creates excitement for you, what makes you feel being a kid in 99? This is all highly subjective.

It sounds like you went to it with unrealistic expectations. Obviously no one forced you to fly across the country and incur those costs. It was never going to be financially worth it. In my opinion the biggest reason to go to events like this is to meet up with friends from around the country or make new friends while you are there. For me the social component would be the biggest source of value. The venue and event itself is just a backdrop for being surrounded by like-minded individuals who all enjoy the same hobby. If that isn’t a big deal to you or you don’t see it the same way that’s completely fair, but it might mean events like this aren’t really for you.

Just log on and read the chat for 1 minute. 80% of the comments are “CRINGE” “L” “NO ENERGY” etc. Why has it become impossible to say 1 negative thing about anything. Whatever I guess I’ll just leave it at to each his own… Enjoy I guess…iono

I got nothing but respect Leonhart after this. This is event is super ambitious. I can’t imagine the costs planning, rental facilities, labor and all the time, not to mention the cost of the packs. But the cost doesn’t even matter. The fact that he had the vision to do this and was willing to do it is amazing.

Yeah the pack openings are kinda slow but that how it is! Like, only 1/3 of packs have a holo. Its just a reminder of that feeling as a kid when you KNEW the pack you picked at Target had a Charizard or a Blastoise but for some reason you pulled an item finder.

I wasn’t going to say it, but here goes nothing. The masks sorta reduce the fun because you see no reaction when they open the pack. Part of the fun is the looks on peoples face when they get a solid pull!

Lol I’d also have a pair of scissors handy for the pack openings.

Great post! And I agree. All respect in the world to the guy for what ha has done for pokemon, the community he has created and putting on the event.

Also yes agree the masks destroy the event which is in Texas and makes no sence to require them at this point.

The only point I’m making is its ok to call it out when people don’t do the greatest at ONE thing. TOM BRADY loses, LEBRON loses, POKEMON makes bad games or products time to time, SINGERS have terrible performances at concerts, etc. It is what it is. The honest negative feedback can help improve events in the future.

Here is an interesting thought… in the last 15 years, has there ever been this many WOTC era packs opened in a single day? This might be a record for WOTC packs opened in a single day since 2004.

We’ve seen endless amounts of early WotC opened up over the past year. I think that most of us are sick of Base Set openings at this point – including the participants, it seems.

That said, nothing but respect to Leonhart for putting something like this together. Not his fault that people are sick of early WotC.

Lmao.

Guy is essentially giving half a million dollars of vintage product away and you say he takes an “L” while you sit behind your computer screen doing nothing.

We will see so many WOTC unlimited raw holos for sale tomorrow on ebay. *Pack Fresh*
This event is probably more exciting in person. Those that don’t like the stream can turn it off, hard to do huh?

If Elon musk misses sales targets his stock tumbles even though he’s still richest person STILL TAKES AN L THAT DAY.

Tom Brady greatest all time lost and won’t be in the super bowl STILL TOOK AN L THAT DAY.

Disney super successful company but releases a movie that bombs at box office and loses millions STILL TOOK AN L THAT DAY.

See a pattern? Even though Leonhart is doing great, super successful, and today won’t affect any of that in the least bit still doesn’t change the fact that this event is in fact an L.

@nostalgianomics, what exactly is his “L” loss that he is taking? Are you saying he is losing subscribers because of this event? I guarantee you he will be net positive from that standpoint after this event.

Will he make back his investment of buying all these packs? No. But that wasn’t the point in the first place.

You are missing the point here.
