Kouki Saitou signing at Baltimore Regionals

There’s already a pretty big line at 5am today!

Hopefully with them not doing shishikis anymore and a longer singing day, most can be able to get in line at least once. Honestly though they should probably lower the queue to 15 min instead of 30 so more people are able to even get in line.

Anyone who was thinking they might come Sunday just for a chance at the signing I wouldn’t personally recommend it. You’d need to get there at least a couple hours before doors open and so few people actually get processed that even that won’t be enough.

Go to the aquarium

*it just occurred to me that I’m very glad I didn’t crack any PSA cases for this. I was initially considering cracking some of my gem mint Salamence E Leagues. I feel very strongly for anyone who cracked open cards and left empty handed. Doubly so for those who traveled from far away. Guy two slots behind me said he decided to cancel his flight so he could do today and Sunday. Rip that guy wherever he is.

I can agree with that. Complete chaos was there just before 5am. Doors opened everyone runs in a jumbled mess cutting in front of people. Eventually split the lines to passes and those that need to pick up passes.

Line forms for saito noone comes to monitor line so people sneak there friends into groups at the front. They come out to very slolwy let people register at 8.50 am after all competors have to leave to play.

Despite this my group is aprox 80 people back in line. Seen multiple people somehow manage still to go thru multiple times today and sometimes getting more then 3 items at a time as well.

Currently 4pm should be ending soon and noone in my group got the text or email.

Save the stress and go to the aquarium.

I think this is what’s getting me. I was waiting this morning with a friend who’s spectating, and I had to eventually leave before the line started moving at all.

He just got the “sorry try again tomorrow” text even though we were there when doors opened this morning.

I’m playing in the event, so we might as well try again since we’ll be here, but it is a little disappointing since we wouldn’t have even come if not for the signing.

I got there just before 8am this morning and immediately after seeing the line just to register for the line to get signings I left the building and went to the aquarium. There’s not a human being on earth worth waiting in a line all day just to MAYBE get the privilege to pay for their signature. Just my opinion. This would have been my first signing event and will almost certainly be my last.

I genuinely hope everyone who decided to wait eventually gets a chance at a signature. Good luck all.

This signing has been run so awfully and it’s very frustrating. I really hate to sound like a Karen here but both days so far have had way too many issues, no transparency from the people running the signing, and it seems like complete bullshit that you need to know the right people to get in for the signing.

People have been scamming their way into the line because there’s no verification process. There’s no way to know your place in the line to have any idea if you even have a chance. They could send out hourly updates to everyone who queued up but even going up to the table got you no answers. The fact that he was signing for about 5 hours and only “the first 50” people got in is crazy.

Sorry if this is just bitter grapes because I’ve not gotten in twice (after lining up early today to try to make sure I got in), but the lack transparency and organization has really been one of the most frustrating queueing systems in my life, way worse than any comic-con, midnight release, or other thing where I had to wait on line for.

In the future, I think signing tickets should be presold before the event as an add-on instead of a random queue at the event. Would be much more fair and transparent that way.

Just curious, how were people scamming the line? Just jumping ahead of people without being verified?

Using screenshots of other people’s confirmation texts or faking the confirmation text.

Wow, its a good thing I’m not there because I would have done something bad after witnessing that much BS.

There are a lot of growing pains. I slept for 1.5 hours and woke up today at 4am to get in line by 5am. By 4:45pm the last group to get in was about half of the e4 discord regulars. I didn’t make it.

It of course sucks. 12hrs waiting for no signatures feels bad. I was probably in the first 10% of the line and me plus 90%ish percent of other people leave with no general admission sigs. From what I’m hearing it’s a combination of factors. Saitou does not want to compromise the quality of his autograph for speed. There are to organizational issues. There is a lot of talk (and things I’ve witnessed) about scummy behavior of people gaming the system and exploiting weaknesses. The degree and specifics of which I can’t accurately speak to other than to say it is definitely happening.

What I do see are areas of improvements being recognized and fixed by @Alec . As I mentioned, there are extreme growing pains happening in this hobby - also reflected in things I hear happening in Ocala. The current state of autograph sessions is what I’d describe as generally unfair. Waiting 12hrs for essentially nothing while some people post stacks of autographs is not fair. But what I really want to convey here is that I have witnessed a sincere attempt every day to address these issues and correct them. The system is broken but I have seen Alec specifically wade through the piles of vitriol slung upon him to improve all the real issues affecting this event.

While it feels bad today, I’m actually positive about the future of autograph sessions. A few minor tweaks to how things run could make it a lot more fair. I’ve seen genuine constructive feedback taken extremely seriously and huge improvements in a lot of things between Friday and Saturday. It sucks today but I can already see lessons being learned from this event that will improve future events which is extremely encouraging.

I just wrote this long post to help people separate the bad experiences and the people acting maliciously from those who seriously want to make this process as smooth, fair and accessible as possible. Yes, mistakes were made but the people running this event should be seen as allies, not enemies. It’s fine to be upset and vent - the emotions from this situation are valid - just keep in mind those who are grinding their asses off to make these events happen and that their goals ultimately align with yours.

Psa for anyone here.

Currently sunday 3.43 Am if your seeing this go back to bed 60+ in line already with the first arriving around 11.45 pm last night.

Hopefully better organization today but expecting more of the same from yesterday.

I just saw photos in discord of people laying on blankets outside. I’ve never seen anything like this before for a signing.

Yeah days are blurring together no sleep all weekend, crazy demand. Saitou refuses to speed up his autographs and only wants to give A tier quality signatures.

Team Rocket schemeing to ruin the line everyday. This might be the biggest demand for a signing yet. Scary to see what happens if some more reclusive artist reimerge.
