Jungle No Symbol vs 1st Edition

No symbol!

gotta go with 1st edition here. no symbol is a misprint which to me is more niche for a certain type of collector. I don’t collect error cards, with one exception.

I collect Japanese no rarity base set because they are actually the first pokemon TCG cards ever printed and the ancestor of all of the base set cards we know and love in english. if no symbol jungle were the first print run of jungle off the presses or something like that, maybe it would be different because then they would be the ā€œtrue first editionā€. As it is, I am solidly in the first edition camp.

Myself being a Pidgeot collector, i have all of the variants. From a value/challenge standpoint, definitely 1st edition.

Luckily no gyarados or karp in jungle so I dont care!

You think 1st Edition is more challenging than No Symbol? I don’t know. It seems like there are a lot more 1st Edition Jungle cards out there than No Symbol. And good luck finding any ungraded No Symbols in near-mint condition.

I’ve found multiples of each jungle 1st ed holo in mint condition raw(except Kang/Pink fat boi, not even gonna bother with those two)

for no symbol? I’ve only found a mint raw jolteon and mr mime, and they came from really bizarre sources

Even came into contact with a seller recently who was liquidating their old collection. They opened multiples of every wotc booster box and opened loose packs too and didn’t find a single no symbol in their collection. I’m telling you those cards are crazy hard to find, let alone in raw mint condition. This is partially because a lot of people who might have them don’t even know that it’s something special worth advertising/selling(they probably just look up the unlimited prices, see T&T buylist them for $5 and say whatever), and partially because it must have been a short print run

Between these two choices I’m leaning slightly more towards no symbol variant.

Yeah. This is exactly why I think No Symbol is certainly more challenging and may even be a bit superior from a value standpoint (although I understand that’s debatable). You just can’t find these cards, either graded or ungraded.

I like both equally

No symbol for me.

Also, No Symbol booster boxes are so so difficult to find its near impossible. There is no way of telling which boxes are no symbol or not so that really adds the the value of the gem mint graded cards in those sets as well. Something to take into consideration

Did you it was no symbol before opening?

I’d personally prefer to have both at this juncture. Seeing that more people care for them. But choosing one would be 1st ed.

I had the same situation, had a lot of no symbols go through my hands because my local had no clue. I even mentioned it to them, and they didn’t seem to care haha! Bummed I sold them though. They had high margins compared to what I bought them for so it was an easy deciison for me to sell em to buy 1st ed rocket stuff at the time.

1st edition is what I would prefer, but I would like both.

Agreed, 1st edition is where it’s at, but having both would be best!

yes the packs were bought 3 years ago, with the knowledge that they were heavy and from a no symbol box

Prefering the 1st edition stamp above the misprint

1st edition Jungle compliments 1st edition Base and 1st edition Fossil much better than Jungle No Symbol does. Count me in with those who prefers the 1st editions to the misprints. But both are cool.
