Hello! It’s me again, Kob from TCG Collector.
Earlier this week, a user of our website reached out to us asking if we could add some missing Italian variants to our database. Since I like to do my due diligence, I asked for pics to see the cards and I stumbled upon cards that I initially thought were fake!
Three of them were from Dragons Exalted, but lacked the normal Reverse Holo pattern used througout the expansion (as can be seen in the Manetric), and presented a Mirror Reverse Holo pattern instead.
And one was from the Kalos Starter Set - a Fletchinder with a the Holo pattern.
After checking that set, I also noticed there was a Honedge with a Holo variant, added before I was on the team.
I decide to make a post both on Discord and here earlier today questioning the existence of these unknow variants, and thankfully exiliart answered.
They were able to uncover that the Mirror Reverse Holos were from the Uova di Pasqua Pokémon 2013 (Bauli) - italian easter eggs that had a Fun Pack inside (there’s a video on my original post)! These were released on March 24, 2013.
For now, all the Mirror Reverse Holo variants we were able to find were of the Uncommon rarity - Gabite (video), Maractus, Floatzel, Durant , Flaaffy and Ninjask.
In regards to the second mystery about the bird, Xyelios came through with the discovery that these Holo variants were from the same Easter campaign, but one year after in 2014! They even provided a video they found.
For now, we know about Fletchinder, Snubull (video), Inkay (video) and Honedge (TCGC database), Weedle (sales site, found by Xyelios).
I decided to write this article to compile all of the information that has been gathered through my original post, Discord discussions and my own research as a way to better document this finding.
If anyone has anymore info regarding more cards with these variants (or knows someone at Bundi or TPCi), feel free to contribute to help cataloguing these!
