Yuka Morii - Regional Promo Awareness

Hey everyone! This is my first post in the forum so if I am posting in the wrong place or if you have any advice, feel free to reach out.

I got back into the hobby during lockdown, and after going through my childhood collection, I got back into collecting and focused on the clay cards illustrated by Yuka Morii as they were my favorite as a kid. Recently, I stumbled across some niche regional promos of her cards, and I was wondering if people knew of any others so I can grow my collection. Attached below is the 255/S-P Indonesian Promo, released as a promo at Indomaret, a convenience store there. The other is 075/SV-P Japanese Promo, which is part of a collaboration with Tanto, a Japense hair gel brand. I am also interested in other niche promos illustrated by Yuka Morii, so if anyone has any info on anything like that let me know!

A few of us went to her exhibition in Tokyo a couple of weeks ago where she has the models on display. Very cute.

Our resident Yuka Morii expert @Llyrwenne may have more info.

i don’t think s/v era is available yet but that should be most anything else?

I have been summoned!

Unfortunately, though I am honored to accept the title of “Resident Yuka Morii Expert”, my current collection scope is limited to English prints and unique (in terms of artwork) non-English prints. I have a complete list of English prints (all variants included) + cards that have unique art but were never released in English, which I could provide to you if you should so wish.

Good luck collecting!

I wish I could’ve been there. :pensive:

My precious Snom was on display! :sob:

I actually have this one on the way currently and am super excited. It is a PSA 9 1/6 with total POP 16.

Hey is there any chance I could get a hold of that list? Just a few of the English holos and whatever variants outside of main sets there would be. Minus the Hitmonchan VS card which is last on my list :face_holding_back_tears: No pressure. It would be greatly appreciated

@pokemontcgcheese @tremrs

I have quickly gathered the most relevant information below. I apologize for the messy presentation. I hope it isn’t too overwhelming.

Other English Oddities

e-Series Holo Hullabaloo

  • Due to the foil layer of Holo cards interfering with the printing of e-Reader dot codes, every e-Reader set Holo card was printed twice; one Holo print without dot code, and one non-Holo print with dot code - each uniquely numbered, with only the non-Holo print receiving a parallel Reverse Holo print. However, for the first e-Series set, Expedition, both the Holo and non-Holo printings of the card each had their own Reverse Holo printing, resulting in two near-identical Reverse Holo prints of Yuka Morii’s Poliwrath in the same set. They can be distinguished by their card number (24 and 60) and a golden e-Series symbol on the 24 Reverse Holo (to indicate that it is the Reverse Holo of the Holo). Holo. Holo Holo Holo Holo.

EX Series Codes

  • Cards from EX sets feature a mysterious and inscrutable nine-digit code in their bottom-left corners. The purpose of these codes has been lost to time, but create multiple variant prints of several EX-Series Yuka Morii cards. I will shortcut all the details and simply list these code variants below by the last three characters of the codes. These only apply to the regular non-Reverse-Holo, non-promotional set prints of these cards.

I heard about that! I didn’t go to Worlds. Is there a video of this somewhere, or was it like a closed, no-camera event?

Had no idea about so many of these variants! The English oddities are gonna be a fun chase. Thank you for the info!

There was a lady there who yelled at you if you had your camera or phone out :frowning:

Hey everyone! I know I am probably late to this, but I just found out there will be no masterball promos for english 151, so the yuka cards in 151 with the masterball foil are exclusive to japan. Images attached.
