Are these real cards? Language exclusive?

Hello everyone! It’s me again, Kob from TCG Collector

I bring you something interesting a user brought to us as missing variants from our database. I was wondering if these cards are real or not, as although all the normal pointers that I go by (colors, font, back) seem alright, the variants themselves are weird in nature - which keeps me wondering if these may be Italian language exclusive cards.

The cards consist of Fletchling (Kalos Starter Set 31/39) and a batch of Reverse Holo cards from Dragons Exalted.

I can’t find any Holo Fletchling online - but the card looks real to me! Why would they print a random Flecthling from a Starter Set with an holographic layer?

The Dragons Exalted reverse holo pattern presents itself as in the Manetric, with energy specific patterns along the card, but the user has 3 other cards that present a Mirror Reverse Holo pattern!

Is anyone aware of these existing? Are these even real?

Would appreciate ANY input, thank you in advance!

Thank you to @exiliart on Discord for helping solve the Mirror Reverse Holo part of this mistery! Apparently they were available in packs from chocolate Easter Eggs

Some more info regarding these:

And the official press release from the company that produced them available in the Wayback machine:

Official release date for this seems to be March 24, 2013.

I’m glad that set contains neither Pikachu nor Seviper, but nice discovery!

I’ll share it in some species Discords I’m active in for all languages collectors with Pokémon from this set. Thanks for sharing.

No worries! Glad this got to see the light of day. If any of them knows about Fletchinder and its specific case, let me know!

Hi!
Great find!
I did some research, and I think your Fletchling came from the same operation, but the following year (Pasqua Pokémon con le uova Bauli 2014), if I believe this video where we see matching Holo cards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUoHbk_LIKk

2013 : mirror reverse
2014 : XY starter set holo

These look so cool- now I want them all! :joy:

Seeing these two variants from Italian 3-pack boosters, I’m very curious if there are more sets affected with some kind of holo variant.

We go crazy in Italy for chocolate eggs, the trend now is to weigh them on the scales in the fruit and vegetables aisle to know which surprise you’ll get ahahahahaha

I have some unique german mirror holos from flashfire. But as far as I know they are errors and not official variants

Although it is plausible German had similar 3-card packs containing holo variants, I think you’re indeed right that those are errors. I’ve seen these type of errors before in various languages.

Here an English example, that was coincidentally posted yesterday as part of @qwachansey’s error contest:

These were from the german prerelease of the set (actually in this light it does seem like a couple have a faint pattern)

From prerelease do you mean they came specifically from the Build & Battle boosters?

Build and battle boosters are a newer thing. Back then it would either be just loose packs or booster boxes provided to the organizers

Ohhh, so only those specific boosters would have these error cards then, correct?

The more you know.
