How much have you spent on Pokémon cards?

In the last year only about 1000 $.

Last big purchase was $1900 for a PSA 8 1st Ed. Base set Charizard and that was a month ago

I’m 30 years old and live in my parents basement. I’ve probably spent enough that I should own a house, 3 cars and a boat.

Around $4400 spent in my 15ish months of collecting. Value of what I’v sold + inventory amount is basically double that though

Since 2014 around $18,000 according to my records, but selling stuff has brought me down to $14,000 in the red. About $11,000 of the expenditures were PSA cards that I still own. I valuate my graded collection ~3x what I spent, so definitely didn’t lose money in the long run. I’m in the process of liquidating my collection back to Call of Legends and older because I want to refocus my collecting goals. I got exhausted trying to keep up with all the modern cards getting pumped out, and the financial loss is too great buying modern product.

650K for a house is awesome!

Try living in the land of >800 sq ft floating rooms for $900,000+ ( if you want to be “downtown”, which really only means walking distance to the skytrain that takes you to real downtown )

We bought our condo for $400,000 2.5 years ago, just over 950 sq ft. Put another 20K or so into upgrades as it was a 25 year old building. Fast forward to today, 750 sq ft places in our building are getting over asking price, 650K+. For places facing the ally or street, with all its old 90s decor and style.

Its all just different things we get to invest in, unfortunately some are not as fun as others.

Since December of 2016, I’ve spent $6218 on Pokémon cards. I keep records of each purchase, including grading fees.

The only reason I keep records is for personal interest, it’s fun to watch the numbers grow with time. I will never sell out though!!! I’m not in this for the money.

$5,500 in the last five months. And another thing 40k or so on kids and bills. If it weren’t for those damn bills, I would own a shitload of cards. Food too. Who needs to eat…

Eat your cards, make them a part of you

What I can afford to spend. 10% of my earnings each paycheck goes into my collection fund/budget.

Maybe $30k? Hard to tell cause a lot used to be towards expensive cards for tournament play (cough cough Mewtwo ex) before I got seriously into collecting

I’ve been collecting since June of 2017 and ive spent somewhere in the range of $11,000 - $12,000 on product and just over $1,000 on grading cards! I wish I would have catalogued all of my purchases so I had an exact ammount just to see over time. But my figures are pretty close so I can keep better track from here on outtttt.

Under 3000 in the last 4 months of collecting. But I have noticed that my Pokémon spending has increased exponentially so I’m anticipating this to hurt a lot more by the end of the year

Hard to say, since a lot were also bought as kid. Probably around 20-30k USD. I probably spend about 500-1000 USD each month on average these last two years (sometimes way more, sometimes barely anything; it depends on the cards I bought).

As long as my savings account still steadily goes up I’m all good.

Just started collecting in February, Ive spent ~$2500 total, sold 1350$ worth of cards, and estimate my personal collection at around 3-4k. It’s a good thing I’ve been very picky about what I buy, the occasional amazing deal/find helps though.

So far this year I have probably spent around $5k, all up though it would be around $10k
