Is base set 2 the first set to have noticeable holo bleeds? I’ve seen a few base set 2 bleeds that are pretty distinct but I am not sure if it was the first set to have them
No, I have seen base set unlimited holo bleeds
I’m not sure on this. Holo bleed is more common than most people think, it’s just difficult to notice a lot of the time because it’s usually not very pronounced. But the busier, bolder cosmos holo pattern on Base Set 2 produces those strong dots and circles that are a lot easier to see. So I don’t know if Base Set 2 is the first WotC set with holo bleed or if it’s just easier to notice due to the pattern used. Experience tells me it’s not the first, it’s just easier to see.
On a related note, holo bleed is so intense and consistent on Japanese cards from this era that I am starting to wonder if it’s actually a feature and not a bug. Anyone have any opinions on that?
