Has this happened to anyone else recently?

Not a rant, a genuine question as I’m certain this can’t just be happening to me.

I’ve received back now all of my PSA orders that I’ve sent this year. Upon opening and inspecting the last three, a whopping 60 cards have come back with case damage.

All 60 cases have identical damage; hairline cracks in the top right corner of the front. I’ve attached some images to show you what I mean.

Has anyone who recently got submissions back had this type of problem?

I’m leaning towards that these were damaged before cards were even put in the cases; so a faulty bunch of cases. Thoughts? @garyis2000 @smpratte ?

Yup. A few orders back almost all of the cases had that. But I sold most of them off and had no complaints.

I had some i think which had hairline cracks once or twice. I personally don’t care… as long as the mark is right, and it’s secured enough i’m okay with it… but i know… there are collectors out there… who down right refuse this shabby treatment. One guy wanted a refund off me because the psa case had hairline scratches on the outside of the front…T.T

there’s people out there…

The issue is I can’t (at least in my own mind) give these cards back to their owners with this damage. That and some of my cards have these cracks and it’s doing my head in.

Would it be fair to assume it’s a faulty bunch of cases?

Contact PSA with the photos of the damage. Tell them you/your customers don’t like them and it is clear damage doesn’t really matter how or when see if they resolve it. It will suck waiting another month or more, but they should cover shipping both ways if they do.

If they refuse to do anything about it, it says something about them and you can take it for what it is worth, though I have as @rayquazatcg seen similar things and moved them along with no issue. More minor than that, but I have seen something similar just smaller and even less significant.

Crude, sorry you had to go through this Oz. I’m sure you pay for a good service, although you didn’t receive one.

Yeah, I’ve never looked that closely either so not sure.

I would agree, send pics and descibe the problem then find out what your options are.

Depending how many damaged cases there are.

I’ve had a similar shipment to the OP here with a minor (subjective) flaw in ALL cases across the order. I didn’t bother returning as it didn’t bother me and it was an early PSA sub for me. Probably second or third.

I also had one where the box was a little crushed from USPS rough handling and it resulted in one single inner brown box having about 10 cards in it where the plastic was actually cracked and chipped off a severe defect. They remedied that just fine even though it was clearly rough handling by USPS that was the cause. Still on them as their packing isn’t extremely cushioned in my experiences. Usually it suffices, but not in that case. I had no choice but to return those and they were fine about it just the extra time was a pain.

It will be interesting to see what if anything they do about these. I know sometimes on eBay I have people be VERY anal about the condition of the card inside the case as well as the case itself. I have had returns over the slightest of scratches anywhere on the case. There are definitely people out there that would not accept these for the pictured issues.

I’ve already contacted PSA regarding the issues, should have cleared that up.

Just wanting to know if it was localised to me or if this was a global issue.

Thanks for the replies thus far

Just quietly, the pictures I have shown don’t do the damage justice.

It’s exceptionally noticeable in person and that something is wrong.

I’ll try and take some better pics with my DSLR tonight. This would be one of the lesser damaged cases too. Some are very very obvious.

I don’t even see anything wrong with the case.lol

Zoom in, it’s a little harder to see in the picture, but the damage definitely is there.

It could have something to do with the sealing machine pressure.

PSA were exceptionally quick to dismiss this as a possible issue when I called them last week.

(They released a video on Instagram showing their sealing process which looks like a gigantic metal stamp, of which I think could actually be the issue.)

I see. Since they knew it wasn’t that, what did they think it was?

They were quick to point to postage, but 60 cards spread across 4 orders with all cards having identical damage… I call bullshit on the postman causing it.

Lol psa trying to cover their ass. It’s pretty funny that they’d blame the post like that.

I find that to be a rather unprofessional approach to handling complaints, couldn’t they get some sort of compensation from usps themselves and also correct your order to keep everyone happy?
