What's your favorite 'weird' artwork?

When I started collecting again back in 2015/16 I saw two bootleg artworks that really stuck with me. I wanted them badly but thankfully didn’t manage to find anything to buy, so I directed my money into something more productive lol. . The infamous Sableye, the charizard of bootlegs [IMG_4545] . Then, Alien Celebi, based on extremely weird illustrations from Beckett magazine: [IMG_4546] [IMG_4549]

I find these particular Chinese bootlegs endearing. Mostly because (if I’m not mistaken) this card has 6.525 trillion HP.

(The character 亿 = one hundred million, 65250 hundred million = 6525 billion = 6.525 trillion.)

Also, the Charizard is seemingly in outer space.

Additionally, the card feels like it is a piece of cereal box cardboard. The holo pattern is simply a layer of glitter glue, and you can physically feel the glue texture on top of the card.

(These cards can be found in flea markets in China. The non-holo variants feel as if they are made from the same material that poker cards would be made of. Other holo “hits” from the series also had similarly absurd numbers of HP and attack damage. Photos are my own.)

I actually have a tyranitar with this weird holo type in it. I have tons of charizard bootlegs like this as well. They’re called magic babies oddly enough.

I collect bootleg cards for fun. There’s a wide variety of different wacky foils from different parts of the world. There’s uk, chinese, japanese, korean, chilean and American bootlegs. If anybody has any for trade or sale you would make a collector happy.

One reason might be the following:

An old Chinese name for Pokémon (not used anymore, but according to Bulbapedia was used in Taiwan prior to Sun and Moon) is 神奇寶貝 (Shénqí Bǎobèi). This could easily be mistranslated as “magic baby”, given a very literal translation (神奇 = magic; 寶貝 = treasure or baby).
