Mysterious Zigzagoon Korean Trading card

Hello there! While exploring the depths of the non-tcg Zigzagoon trading card rabbit hole, (the topsun vs cards are quite delightful and Zigzagoon has a shocking number of them) I encountered this:

From this site. These cards look dissimilar to anything I have seen before and a reverse image search does not turn anything up. I also do not recognize the art on the first more powerful zigzagoon, but it does appear on a handful of non-english language sites.

These cards do appear to be from some sort of card game given the attack and defense powers listed on the bottom, and there appears to be a type chart or similar on the card, but I really am at a loss! If anyone has seen anything remotely similar, not necessarily the Zigzagoon, l would love to see it so that we can solve this mystery!

Welcome to the forum.

This sales listing seems to state that they are from 2009:

Likely bootleg.

The “rock-paper-scissors” icons indicates they may have been used in games similar to Japanese menko, which feature similar rock-paper-scissors icons.

Oh my goodness! I think that was the lead that I needed! Pointing out the hand symbol cracked the case wide open for me. Translating “Rock paper scissors trading card” and adding the Korean name of Pokemon right after it brought up a treasure trove of google results.

Most importantly, we have located both the Zigzagoon and pretty good evidence for bootlegs in one image:

To the last of my recollection, Luxio is not a fire type so that image in the bottom left is odd. Plus some of these pokemon are really crookedy.

This Houndour and Mightyena are also extremely suspect. It reads neopets to me, and that is a common fanart style of the time period. I suspect the Zigzagoon with the ball is also fanart

These listings are interesting! They are lots, take a look! Here, and here. There are plenty more if you search “가위바위보 트레이딩 카드 포켓몬”!

Thank you so much, and for welcoming me to the site lol

We got bootleg Deviantart Mightyena rock-paper-scissor cards before GTA 6

Bootleg or not, I spot a new Seviper to add to my WTB list.
