What unreleased or prototype cards do we know of?

Recently we had a bunch of unreleased or prototype cards emerging.
In this thread I wanted to gather all the cards that got revealed but never saw an official release.

Cards that come to mind are:

Not sure what your criteria are but Pikachu (BW Promo 77) - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia (bulbagarden.net) and the Raichu (BW 78) was never released in English despite the original intention to be. I do wonder at times if they ever got printed and could be floating around somewhere

Idk if these two count, but here’s a couple:

Depending on your definition of “unreleased”

You can also add protostoise and maybe disco holo base sheet

Do Art Academy cards, that have never been sold by the actual winners, count as “unreleased”? lol

We’ve already seen several prototype cards, but I find this article quite interesting, explaining their “history” and comparing their design with the final one.

Aren’t these cards’ design and artwork for the phonecards?

They were originally real cards?

@mika Yep, that’s the post I was getting the pictures from  Thank you for linking it

@pfm Prototoise is a good one. But I don’t know if I would add the sheets. Then would also include all the other test print sheets and so on.

@decoypalmette they definitely count. Where did you get them from?

@swolepoke I wouldn’t add the Art academy cards since they technically got an official release. But it would be interesting to know which cards never got sold.

@genchiro @TheMarillFoundation unfortunately I can’t remember, I saved them years ago in my google Drive with many others artworks and cards that I thought were interesting. They were probably floating around twitter though, since it’s where I was usually for inspiration and tcg contents.

Edit:

Nevermind lol, found through google lens. They were a proxy unfortunately.

I did know about the Vaporeon but I didn’t know about the Flareon. Wished they were actual cards than in the game only. :pensive:

Here are some photos online that I’ve saved over the years

The ‘it got away’ lot of e-series Test Prints. All these were under one Yahoo Auction listing

WTDOAC7

Some more e-series Test Cards

Black border Protostoise

This non-holo holo Clefable from Jungle

Same story with this non-holo Base 2 Charizard

1st edition stamped Unlimited cards

A deck made just for Ishihara. The card inside is also authentic.

There is also a set of 2 Prime cards that are that of Ishihara’s pet dogs but I don’t have that photo. Holo and all

EDIT: Found the photo. WHOOPS, turns out they are non-holo

Man those Japanese prototypes take me back! That was such a once in an lifetime auction!

Oh man! I would have loved it if they made these cards back in the day. I’m surprised there wasn’t a mock up GB Jolteon.

Did an e4 member win that Japanese prototype auction? :eyes:

I am not sure but I don’t so because none of these cards were ever seen again since. I think it was sold some time between 2015 and 17.

There is a Jolteon. Probably wasn’t mentioned because the artwork was used in Lt. Surge’s Jolteon.

@eeveeteam Nice to see. But we agree these are proxy cards, right?
