Fake charizard on ebay

If you bought the base set expensive orange flying dragon and scratched of yellow paint on the border at the very top tip. What would appear?

A little ink scratched off the top of an ungraded card I just bought exposing a aluminum color foil like layer beneath the yellow. Very small but the shine gives it away

I’m here to see if its real. I heard foil doesn’t go based the border? I could be misstating. Everything seems so legit otherwise

How do you post a picture I can’t find that option

It sounds like you’re describing silvering which is quite common on WOTC holos, but a picture would be helpful. Here is a helpful thread to learn how to do so. www.elitefourum.com/t/how-to-upload-images/24249/1

Yeah that charizard looks fine from that picture.

Very minimal damage but looks blackish silver and shines in the light

I heard this is a bad bad sign but I’m too new to know forsure

Hope that clears your doubts.

Wow guys I’m honestly surprised how helpful you have been here, I didnt expect that

  1. The mark bothered me because I didnt notice it until it was shipped and the shine worried me because I was told there shouldnt be foil throughout

  2. It dropped expectations of a 6 or 7 to a 1 or 2 but your picture suggests that a 1 is a bigger problem than I imagined

At least its not fake like I thought

Can we take this further and get a prediction on what damage like this would do to a grade?

I paid 350. Do I have a chance of having value?

Minimal scatching and whitening otherwise

Asking in regard to the spot you see at the top

Youve only shown an incomplete image of the whole front while inside a penny sleeve. To get a better estimation we would need to see the full front as well as the full back with high quality pictures of each. Cards are graded based on every part of it so only showing ~30% of the card makes it impossible to give any estimation sorry mate!!

Very true, I guess my question was if it was flawless, would a gash like this only take a couple points off or bring it way down.

Either way I’m happy its real. I probably already made a big enough fuss about the scratch!!

Assuming the rest of the card is mint, that mark would bring it down to a 6. 7 at best, if you’re lucky. Sometimes corner dings are hard to characterize, in terms of what the grader would call it. But technically that pictured ding is severe enough to be called a bend or dent, and that immediately drops grades down to a 6. Any bend, crease, indent, causes a PSA 6. But I doubt the rest of your card is clean if that kind of damage is on it. I would guess you have a 4-6 on your hands.

All holo cards have a silver holo foil underneath the outer layer FYI.

Dude thank you very much… Very helpful response.
