Ebay: buyer states fake things

Hi everyone!

So I made some of my first sales on eBay last 2 weeks and now things are starting to reach the buyers.

I sold one fossil lockdown theme deck, beateddown with a big tear on the seal, but sealed nevertheless. The guy that won the auction is now saying that the item has been resealed and that it smells like food (it doesn’t) and that he can hear loose cards inside, which is also impossible… What he hears is the coin going around I guess.

He asked for a refund and if I don’t reply he says that he will start the returning process. I replied to him saying that the condition of the item is as stated in the description and as could be seen in the pictures and also I have a disclaimer saying that I don’t accept returns and that the product might have some more damage than what is shown or described. I listed the item as uses also.

Now, I don’t know what should I do, this is a first and a bit weird because I tries my best to be honest with what I sold and was very careful packaging.

Should I just accept the return or should I just stick with this? Will eBay side with me looking at the listing?

Thank you in advance!
André

I would just start the return mate. It’s not worth the certain negative feedback you’ll get otherwise.

Make sure you take pictures of the condition upon return.

Here is the listing of the item sold:

Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick response!

What can i do if when the deck gets back to me is indeed all opened and with a visible attempt of reaseled and smelling like food? Now I.am scare that this would be the state that I would find it.

Thanks!

Then you would need to go to eBay and state that it has been tampered with.

I would take clear pictures/video of the return. Something to show what you sent vs what you got back.

I know eBay would always ask me to refund and accept the return. I have it there to discourage potential scammers, but even though I got this message from the buyer,as a response of what I told him:

“Yeah ok fair enough”

What does this even mean? Was he just trying to get a refund?

seems so, sounds like he has buyers remorse

Best thing to do it refund, accept a return, when it arrives, DO NOT OPEN IT, until you record the opening.
YT LYF BRO!!

Sorry ha, film the opening of it so there is less dispute you damaged it on purpose(NOT THAT YOU WOULD)
Then take pictures aswell and make sure there are date and time stamps(phone is probably best)

Then if all is gravy(don’t pour more on the deck box please) you can re list and sell again. Its a ball ache but that’s Ebay  If it is damaged contact ebay with what happened and evidence.

Hope that helps

Disclaimer, I am not an expert, not a seasoned ebay pro.the above is my own opinion and mine alone. Any disputes against me, please call 0-1-2-1-DO-1 or pop them into my F It bucket.

NO REFUNDS,NO RETURNS!!

I have to say that your disclaimer is better than mine for sure xD

The guy won’t return and here is why (the cherry on top of the cake):

I came home and cross reference the tracking number, turns out that he hasn’t receive my theme deck yet. The tracking says “international transit” and it needs first to be checked in “Heathrow international distribution centre” before it could even be deliver to him.
I told him this and he still says he has the theme deck and that it smells like food, but no worries.

I seriously don’t understand. Should I try again and explain that he doesn’t have the one that he bought from me? Or just leave it? I don’t want to keep digging here.

Cheers!

are you saying you have tracking on the item? and if so…signed for?

Yes

are you able to paste the tracking result when you enter the tracking number in here please? If it says undelivered then he cant have it.Maybe he is lieing and wants a refund?
You could always ask for a picture of it from him or contact the postage company to clarify the progress.
Sounds dodgy to say the least

The tracking number is:

RD929005848PT

You can track it in any tracking website. Currently it says:
“Lisbon, International despatch”

I have sent some items to the UK and it will first check in in Langley Heathrow before being delivered. So he doesn’t have it.

Should I contact eBay straight away with this? And safeguard myself?

Ask for photo evidence?

Id contact ebay and ask for advise before refunding etc.He will need to prove he has the item and it is faulty before a refund as it has tracking.

The guy stoped asking for a refund and the return. He said it is OK, because it said in the description and that he “understands”… I never wrote anything on the description regarding food smell, because my cards don’t smell like food.

I am thinking that he might got cold feet regarding the purchase.
I am scares that he is waiting to get the item to try to push for the refund and return?

For future reference: Ask the buyer to please send a photo confirming the damages before returning. (You cannot force them to do so but the photos will help you out incase the item is returned with additional damage.) Then ask the buyer to return it. DO NOT refund before the item is returned unless you are ok with accepting the loss. The refund will be the incentive for the buyer to return the item safely. I’d suggest you be amiable because ebay will accept the return for the buyer regardless in almost all cases

If the buyer clearly does not want the item it’s best just to accept the return. Just be accommodating for the situation and it’ll (usually) turn out alright.

Mispost

Cheers!

I tried again to explain him that he does not have the item he bought from me and also asked for pictures of the item and of the package where it came.

He can’t be returning something that I haven’t sold, right?

Thank you everyone for you responses

A buyer cant return an item because they dont like it, changed their mind…your not a business so have no refund and return policy. Unless it is not as described faulty damaged etc they can suck it up. Plus its re sellable! Make sure to keep all convo and pics etc incase
