Lugia’s fingers is one of the worst design choices in all of Pokemon.

Now that I’ve gone and voted, I don’t even think there are 25 Lugia arts that I actually enjoy. Maybe not even 10. Weird for a Pokemon that is a title legendary, got it’s own movie, it’s side game, and a really interesting lore.

Seeing all of these side by side makes me realize that… a lot of artwork could have done so much better.

Interesting, I also think that there isn’t that many great artworks. Given how well I would guess Lugia’s design and lore lends itself to some dynamic poses, cool lighting, in various environments, it doesn’t really show. A lot of generic poses, generic CGI, somehow a few weird necks as well.

There are still a handful amazing cards, but fewer than I’d initially expected.

The /P promo set by Harada may be her greatest contribution to the TCG. Stunning.

Apparently i’m not the only one but crazy how big the downhill has been for lugia, the early arts are superior compared to later ones. I guess lugia suffers from same issue than rayquaza that it has gotten a lot of special cards that ride (or try to) with the card design and rarity instead of actual art

You know, I always felt there was something off with Lugia’s wings and I never realized it was the fingers that were so offputting

Sad how the JR rally isn’t holo, it would’ve been the perfect card for it too. Still, it’s up there, one of the 4-5 cards here that I truly enjoy.
