Doubled Sided CoroCoro Promo...what is this?

As of 7/14/23, here’s a currently live eBay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225668341187

Anyone know the origin of this card? Doubled-sided Venusaur / Blastoise with old school Ash Pikachu & Clefairy. Sick card!

Those mouths are incredibly creepy

Hmm. I haven’t seen anything like this before and I’ve seen probably most non-tcg card like products. Only similarity is the Lottery Phone Cards but this isn’t a phone card despite the listing. At least the seller admits they don’t know what it is. I’m hesitant to call this real without any context. I’m not even sure how something like this would be distributed unless provided as an extra - but with all of the Lottery Phone cards we’ve seen, I find it suspect this is the first time something like this is appearing.

I’m hesitant at best to call something like this legit as cool as it looks. It’d be cool if it is real though.

Edit: Looking it over, there’s a lot of red flags. Japanese product quality is a lot better for card stock than something like this. The fact that there’s a glossy side and a matte side also has my head scratching. The text is blurred in certain parts which is usually a sign of a bootleg situation.

But who knows, maybe someone better in the field knows something more than I do.

I don’t know what it is but I can tell you what it’s not. It’s listed as a phone card but most definitely is not a phone card.

This is what the phone card version looks like:

I have an article on phone cards if that helps you.

It’s not listed as a phone card. The seller simply described it by saying it is the “Phone Card Art”. He also doesn’t know what the card is or where it originated. Honestly, it looks like a legitimate card to me. The quality looks pretty good, but I have no idea what it is or how it was released. Really hope someone knows more and can shine some light on what it is.

I’ve seen the manga comics before but am wondering where these cards derive from?

So looks like this is some manga, searching the info I can see on the card I can see some other similar designs being sold on yahoo auctions, actually listed as a phone card (but they are, I’m not sure about this since it’s missing the chip).

Google search

To be more clear, these little holes/chip at the bottom would be required for them to be phone cards.

I own one of these already (bought from another seller who didn’t know origin either). There’s also a BIN listing on eBay right now for $10k from another different seller who doesn’t seem to know where it comes from either.

@Kampes_Cards have you seen anything like this before?

I own the real red corocoro phone card in BGS 10. I believe it was September 1997 corocoro magazine that shows the legitamate phone cards in which 50 red and 50 green were given away as lottery prizes as well as 3 other prizes that could be won that weren’t pokemon related.

This listing is 100% proxy and not authentic. Whoever made these made many others that I’ve seen over the years of many different colors and it’s very unfortunate…it actually hurts the value of the legitamate ones because of this scam that has been going on.

Ive tried to get the sellers who try and list these proxies for way to high to at least be honest in their listings, but you “can’t argue with stupid” lol.

Stay far far away, I’ve spent way too long translating old Japanese corocoro magazines and these are 100% fake, I can guarantee that.

I am selling my red BGS 10 soon on PWCC, so if anyone is interested in the legitimate item in the highest grade that exists (pop 2), feel free to reach out to me. Otherwise it will be listed on PWCC in the following months!

Also to add, if not already pointed out, these proxies were taken from the original Pokémon manga volumes 1-14!

I love owning the historic mangas and would recommend buying a complete set of those for $80-$120 on eBay if this item interests you.

Here is an example;

Need the red one now
