Does your name appear on any Pokemon cards?

How many of you share a name with that of a Pokemon character or gym?

Or, in my case, both a character and a gym!

I’ve always thought it was kind of cool that my given name (グレン) appears on at least one card and one starter deck, and my surname (カーディ) is just a diacritical mark away from being identical to that of ガーデイ, which appears on more than two dozen cards.

So… your name is Crimson Growlithe?

Tbh I think it’s pretty rare to find your name on a card outside Japan. Even the human characters have some weird/uncommon names. For example Huuro/Skyla/Geraldine. I couldn’t even think of any scenario in any language where a word could come close to my name.

Nice, maybe we can find all the common names.

Fun fact: Mary’s german name is Margit and Marnie’s name is Mary. Very confusing.

I’m surprised that Max from the Gen 3 anime was never featured on a card (AFAIK). So Maxie kind of counts?

If Dan counts for me then Maxie has to count for you lol. I don’t call myself Dan, but I’m almost tempted to do it when speaking english, the pronunciation of DaaaeeNiiieeLLLLL sound all fucked up because I’m so used to the norwegian version.

They gave me my own card for my collection. Think there is also one or two in Japanese with Sir Aaron on them.

I also have a family member whose name appears on several cards, including this one:

Yes! Though in Japanese, there’s no “Sir” before his name. He’s simply アーロン (“Aaron”).
