I regret so much that I didn’t commit fully back in 2016 when I sorted through my old base set cards. It was so fun looking at it all. I downloaded the TCG on my computer and bought a bunch of evolutions cards and just life got in the way.
Now I’m seeing boxes go for $1k+ and I would love to collect a set since they are throw back to my base set collection. But not sure I can justify what seemed overprinted. But if everyone is buying these up then are the singles shooting up too?
Curious what folks think about trying to collect this set. Will it ever come down and be affordable to collect or is it only going up?
Admittedly, I can sell off some multiples in my base set to try to cover the cost but that involves getting PSA grades and that’s so backed up. Frustrating and not part of this discussion.
if they market gets a flood of cases/boxes or Pokemon re prints then yes. The smart money evo holders will drip into the market though. It’d be stupid to do a snap Poliwag into the current market…or ever XD
What type of conditions are ungraded sets usually in when someone says near mint / mint? My concern is they won’t be PSA 8 or 9 level and really looking for best quality possible in reason.
I don’t think I can reasonably ask someone to take a picture of every card or anything either.
But I guess the non-holos are likely fine if sleeved or put in binder and can’t imagine anyone collecting wouldn’t take care of the holos too.
Just not familiar with it. Or is it cheaper / better than going with singles?
And if so, why in the hell would anyone buy a box or packs? For the thrill of opening packs? That’s admittedly fun so maybe buy one box and get what… 50% of the cards? Then get the rest as singles.
