I wish eBay would make a policy to not refund buyers until the item or items being sold have been verified returned. It’s a shame people stoop so low it’s almost like eBay encourages it because there is little to no action taken on the buyer… for such a huge platform this is very bothersome. At one point I almost didn’t collect cards or stopped because I started thinking of scammers and return scams if I eventually sell years and years later
reported the buyer for misuse of claims. will wait for the return and report a false claim im sure, expecting everything to be opened or a random item returned to me
ebay won’t take sides on who is right if the product is as described, they will just make sure the return is done properly. I would wait to issue the refund until you get your return back and if you get opened items or different items, ebay should take care of you. I would document the opening of the return package. This is just from my experience dealing with returns.
As an eBay seller that makes their living on the platform ($3M and 10k transactions per year) the 30 day free returns policy has been the best thing since Shining Gyarados (my favorite card). Any misuse of returns allow you to provide a 50% refund to the buyer and most importantly all returns are feedback protected (no negatives). Its better to lose 50% than 100% and the buyer gets reported in the process. Many novice sellers don’t know this policy.
I think the percentage of refund is only for ebay seller with a store set up, meaning your already paying ebay (makes sense with the deals if it your main business). But for the seller who just wants to sell things here and there its pretty nerve racking. I’ve tired down offers from ebay buyers with fairly new accounts not wanting to take the risk (they could very well be legit buyers).
You could be right I’ve had an Anchor level store subscription for a decade however I believe a Basic store may be $10 a month or less? Don’t quote me on that price but a Basic store is a relatively cheap and more professional way to sell your cards. It would only take one unscrupulous buyer on a $100 card to make the Basic store subscription cost more than worth it given the ability to provide partial refunds if necessary and elimination of buyer retaliation feedback or any neutral/negative feedback on an ebay processed return. Now this advice is for novice sellers that want to sell a handful of cards each month. If you only want to sell a card or two each month then I don’t think this advice would be cost effective for you. If someone were wanting to sell $1000s in cards each month then understanding this policy could make or break your business.
If he is looking at the top of the booster and thinking the “odd” looking mark at the top of the booster is a glue mark then you can show him that it is normal for HF packs to have that. There are many other posts on there where people say it is normal.
Sometimes the buyers are not trying to do return fraud and are simply unknowing in terms of what HF packs actually look like.
