With eBay’s latest update on their vault services. Which is the best current vault option? eBay, PSA, PWCC or another?
Also, I’ll be honest. With my recent purchase, I’m kinda nervous having something that expensive in my home. So far pwcc is looking like the best option to me but wanted to ask other who have stored their items in vaults first.
Or is storing them somewhere else a better option?
I saw from your other post you really like being able to feel and see your card so have you considered just getting insurance and a small protective case instead?
I have that and thankfully have never had to use it. It also covers cards in the mail you are sending to grading, which is cool.
I use pwcc and what used to be called goldin vault (which is collectors vault now, or maybe eBay vault, no clue lol). I’ve had zero issues for either and regularly add to them.
The cheapest option currently available is the PSA Vault, charging 6$ per withdrawal including shipping on the first 90 days, and 1$ also including shipping after those 90 days. I don’t think that this will be sustainable for them long term and it should end up changing like eBay vault did, but as of today it works like this
If it’s just for the 1 card, I’d recommend just keeping it on hand. The vault is not risk-free. It could get lost in the mail, the vault could go under, your card can accidentally end up in a different person’s vault (rare, but it has happened to me)
Life’s too short. Just keep the card with you and enjoy it. Risk of loss will never be 0%, it’s just something you need to get used to
I bought an English Jolteon/Flareon/Vaporeon Vmax set and the Flareon ended up in someone else’s vault . Fortunately not a valuable card but mistakes can always happen.
I’ve had nearly a full shadowless holo set go through the vault. I don’t really use it specifically for storage. I just use it because the savings on shipping/sales tax/import tax to Canada. My stuff would cost 20-60% more without the vault.
If it wasn’t for that, I’d just drain my vault now and probably not use it again
I personally don’t think it’s worth insurance for a single card. I only see insurance useful for life-ruining amounts of money. On the extremely rare chance something happens to this card, you won’t be in financial ruin.
Really the best advice is just to relax and figure out a way to store or display it that you are comfortable with
