Have a recent addition and a nightmare story! Excited to add this reverse Torchic signed by Harada! Slowly trying to build up a collection of lesser available sigs (guys like Arita should be back on the trail post covid).
But I recently had a large order from Buyee that contained 2 sigs from a not very available modern illustrator basically “lost”. DHL status says the slip was printed but not yet handed over to them, I have an open case with Buyee support but have heard nothing back and we are almost 3 weeks out. Absolutely heartbroken for the sigs and other collection additions that I am having dwindling hope for. First ever issue with Buyee.
After over a month lost in a Buyee warehouse, my package arrived. Got these two very cheap, per the seller were signed by the artist “Sadaji” at a tcg event. Have never seen another card signed from this artist, nor can I find any examples of his signature for any verification purposes. I reached out via Twitter to see if he would respond, but not holding my breath. I see no red flags, but would have a hard time sending to PSA, just not sure how they would authenticate with no examples. But still happy to have!
Does anyone know who would of done this? 99 era at a mall signing event in a mall called The Oaks in California. Seller says its Sugimori but I think he’s talking out his __.
I found a signed card for cheap that looks nice but I have no idea who signed it
I did my little research with the dates on signature and Japanese names and I found a blog post about a pokemon family tournament in Osaka in 1999. hotta.dip.jp/poke99.html
I think the signature with the shark is from doctor sameji as I found graded cards with his signature. The other 2 seems to be less known but I’ll continue to search…
Nice signed card! I can confirm the top signature of the shark is indeed Dr. Sameji. I’ve got one of his signatures as well (see the Gengar in the very first post on page 1 of this thread ).
I also don’t recognize the other two signatures, so can’t really help you any further with that unfortunately. Good luck in your (re)search for those. Maybe someone else on the forum recognizes them?
So I just bought this card said to be signed by Keiji Kinebuchi. As it is a very long shot and there are only a handful pieces (3 to my knowledge) this might as well be fake since all of the 3 look very different in signing style. I took a chance on this card in hopes of finally finding out more about Kinebuchi who is a mystery to us all unfortunately.
The seller said to have gotten this signed in the early 2000s in Australia from an event there. As he attended a lot of them, he couldn’t recall a specific one that he got this card signed at. Looking at the history of pokémon events in Australia, there were quite a few held in the early 2000s which go in line with the time that Kinebuchi was active.
I reach out to you in hopes of any knowledge about any event in Australia that might back this up, if anyone has any memory or pictures or such from an eraly 2000s event in Australia that did have signings or that someone just spotted Kinebuchi at the event would help a ton or really any other information you might have about this signature even such if you see it being fake or real.
Hopefully one day we will know for sure how Kinebuchi’s signature looks like.
So the Voltorb is one of the cards, this energy card is a 2nd one and the Gengar holo is the 3rd “known” example of his signatures. None of which have been confirmed as it is seemingly impossible today to verify it. All we know is that the Voltorb has the most pedigree to it, and that’s quite important, but in the end no one has verified it. That’s why I bought this, if there is the slightest chance for anyone to back up the sellers claims that this is signed in Australia, this card would mean the world to me. If it ends up being fake and we could get someone like TPC to confirm the Voltorb somehow (very unlikely but one can hope) then that would be just as great. Just seeing a real signed card by Kinebuchi would be a big deal for many of us here I bet.
No matter the outcome, if mine end up being fake or real, I’m happy to have contributed a bit.
