At this point, what would need to happen for Guru to be ousted from the community altogether? The man screams āfraudulentā from every possible angle.
But the story of the box was that it was bought by a mom in 1999, kept in a closet until very recently when it was sold to some guy named Black Wolf Collectibles or something like that, and then it was purchased by the guy who appeared briefly on screen before being passed over to Guru and then opened.for the Dumb Money guys. So is āCharizard_King24ā the guy who briefly appeared on screen and sold the box to Guru?
Ehh, nothing really. Heās a flipper, and thatās ok. Guys like this have their place also. Heās def a little sketchy. I wouldnāt sell to him, or buy from him. But my guess is the ācommunityā isnāt his target audience.
But flippers can also drive new interest in the hobby with their methods. Think of them as sales reps. You hate talking to them, but sometimesā¦you just like the pitch and buy whatever it is they are selling. Something you didnāt think you wanted or needed.
Honestly I think overall everyone involved acted as professionally as possible given the circumstances. The exception would be the reaction from the Pokemon community itself which was both immature and frankly, shameful. Even on E4 and still seen continuing in this thread after everything is more or less resolved. Itās one thing not to like collectiblesguru (Iām not a fan myself) but to throw out accusations of fraud for something mostly out of his control and even after he rectified it is just signals to me that you are an emotionally stunted person. I didnāt know the proceeds of the box was going to charity until watching this video, which just adds another layer. I canāt even fathom sitting behind a screen and tearing apart a situation where people are coming together to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity on behalf of a hobby I love. If your only contribution to this hobby is negativity, you are the biggest problem.
Shout out to all the people involved in making this happen. Respect to the person actually refunding the original box. Thanks to the Dumb Money people for trying to create something impactful within this hobby. Happy to see leonhart and pokerev coming out as members of the community looking to be constructive rather than destructive. And I will give acknowledgement where itās due, collectiblesguru rectified the situation extremely quickly. Bonus points to thebig3hockey, who I know is a member here, for having what appeared to be a legit box.
This sealed product risk is also one thing heās been pushing for on his IG. Buy more PSA/BGS from him at higher prices cause they are legit. This is some real shady territory.
Iām going to agree with you except for the fact that the memes about Guru being bald are still pretty funny. I donāt think weāll get past that unfortunately but I agree. People saying the last one was staged? are just⦠wat. And now that it seems like the situation has been fixed within 2 fucking days⦠what more do you want? Sure these outsiders arenāt fucking losers like us who know every single .01 gram weight of every pack and every minute detail and probability ratio of every card, but overall thereās nothing horrific going on here.
Guru made an account on this forum just to insult collectors, he tries to manipulate prices, he puts out false information, he only seems to be in this for the money, he produced a fake box with a story full of holes and lies, and just reading the stuff he says aloud and on the social media the only interpretation I have of the guy is stereotypical '80s high school movie jerk villain.
I think everyone in that YouTube chat and on this forum is right to lambast the guy and make a fool out of him. He was pretty much the focus of all the jokes/negativity/questionability of this whole ordeal. We have no reason to trust him or anything associated with him. The reaction is completely appropriate. Iām not sure what youāre trying to sayāthat hobbyists rightfully lampooning a guy for muddying and hurting and insulting the hobby they love is a sign that theyāre emotionally stunted, immature, and should be ashamed? Or am I missing something? Like, are you moreso referring to the people claiming this to be fraudulent?
Boy, thatās just way too much credit for Guru. The guy is pure scummy. He rectified a situation he created, only after realizing he royally fād up for the entire world to see. And if that previous box wasnāt opened live and he wasnāt caught red handed, he would have rectified absolutely nothing. I respectfully disagree.
So youāre telling me a bunch of multi millionaire investors who have absolutely no interest in the cards are going to help out the hobby and raise loads for charity? And collectibles_guru is at the helm of it all?
this definitely went better but its weird the crypto dude said it was in a closet then a guy gets on camera and acts like he just bought it. they didnāt plan on that exchange (which is good) but the history as a viewer was clouded at least while watching live.
