Also keep in mind that evolutions had terrible quality. As of right now there are about 17k graded evolutions charizard holos graded by PSA and only 324 psa 10s. Compare to celebrations charizard which have had 270 graded by PSA already and 209 of those are PSA 10.

This celebrations charizard isn’t gonna pull an evolutions charizard even if we got another pandemic situation 5 years from now lol.

Agreed I don’t expect anything insane but I’ll definitely be hoarding some for the nostalgic factor.

It’ll sit next to the other zards. I try to have 10-20 of each.

Yes they were raw pickups that I sent in. Had about 25 total, most 9’s with about 7/8 10’s

Most of my cards are sent in by myself or with a service like lud.

NM Evo Zards are still around $60 dollars… The main reason you made money (along with evo zard being tough to grade) is because PSA had bulk pricing, which means you could have sent in almost anything and made hella money.

As far as investing goes, I’d stay away from anything that has PSA + cheap cards in the equation. We don’t know what the cheapest grading price will be and we certainly don’t know when that will be.

It’s a little disingenuous to quote the prices like getting XY evo zards in 10 condition was trivial. More likely you got a 9 that is now sitting around $140.

And as mentioned above, the price movement came on the back of unprecedented circumstances shooting demand through the roof. You could’ve picked damn near any card to compare pre and post-covid prices that performed just about as well, and tons that have much more stability at their new prices compared to evo zard. Going for the absolutely most common/liquid option and praying for an eruption of demand is probably not the most reliable stonk move.

Future returns aside, I agree the cards look great and some are already super cheap, so more power to you if you just want to load up a binder for yourself.

I’ve been here for a long long time. My sale data was from my personal psa10 sells.

Collector first, money after. Pokémon could go to zero and I’d just load up more.

Unhealthy love for the hobby is why I & many others have grandma houses full of awesome stuff.

Thanks for the talk guys, these cards (English and Japanese sets) are just too beautiful to pass up.

I enjoy your thoughts @poketraveler, I have to agree. I still think these are beautiful cards, even if they dip, I am still happy to have quite a bit of these cards, especially at these prices.

Finally got my Collector’s Chest! My Mimikyu is tragically off center so now I have to replace it. But I pulled all three Base Starters from the packs in there so that was exciting. Sold the Charizard in like 10 seconds, which covered my costs completely. Can’t complain!

Still waiting on my V-Union Boxes from GameStop, then I’ll have gotten everything I preordered.

I was a bit surprised to discover that the japanese Blastoise I pulled was somewhat off-centered. I opened packs with a friend before opening mine and most of his were absolutely immaculate.

Seems like it. Not gonna lie, a bit annoying, only the Blastoise was off-centered. Of course the fucking Donphan was singularly perfect…
