This is the best thing they could have done. Make the most popular cards guaranteed pulls and dedicate an entire product to them. That way you give as many people as reasonably possible the chance to get their favorite mon without spending extensive amounts of money, and you prevent people from flipping singles for 3-4x the price of the box. The only risk that remains is a low supply for the boxes themselves, but you could have that with any product.
Went to target yesterday for some chocolate and I happened to walk by the Pokémon aisle. They had a bunch of stock! No ETBs but they had the charizard boxes and such. They even had evolving skies ETBs! First time in a while I’ve seen that shelf have stuff
I’m so jealous. My Target still just has an empty section with a paper sign about limiting per customer. I haven’t seen stock for months and months and months. One time I saw one Battle Styles booster.
Im not sure if it was just good timing on part. But it looked like the stuff had been there for a bit. All the UPC and celebrations ETBs were gone so maybe the scalpers just left the rest. The target I normally go to has nothing. This was a smaller one about 15 minutes from my house. Keep searching! Im sure you will hey your hands on something!
I’m still trying to get the ultra premium box. I will not rest until I have one, but I’m really trying to not pay a scalp price. It is gets to december I may have no choice, but I hope I can find one.
I managed to get 3 boxes of the Japanese set from a Japanese store and they arrived earlier this week, i just got around to checking out how easily searchable the promo packs were and made a short amateur video here. I wouldn’t say it’s easy to do but it can be done. Definitely be cautious if you buy loose packs online.www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7ISNQRIOpg
The Japanese set looks so much better than English
Sorry it was just a quick video I put together on my phone to show that it can be done (I already had my torch at an okay angle to show some of the text before I hit record)
I would say it’s not as easy as the McDonalds packs are to search using the same process but still anyone with a decent torch and some patience to get the angle right could do this.
I can’t read Japanese but it didn’t take long to work out when comparing to pictures of the cards online.
on the jp booster box on the side of it, it says 1/(then some japanese characters)/16(then some japanese characters).I am assuming the 16 is obv the amount of booster packs, but what is the 1 referencing? (since I cant read japanese)?
also on the “special set” box of 4 boosters & 1 promo pack, this set does not look sealed with plastic wrap on the outside, but is it sealed on the inside? If not, is this a concern for a seller possibly swapping a “desirable” promo pack with an “undesirable” promo pack?
just some questions I had as I am possible considering either getting the booster box or special set.
I doubt the packs inside of the special set would be sealed in any way but don’t know for sure.
If not then the only protection is some tape on the edges which is not great. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could pull all the packs out by opening the back of the box a little bit since there is no tape.
I bought a few loose promo packs that just arrived. I had ordered them before knowing they could be searched. I decided to test it out and frankly have no idea how you can see the card content through the packaging. Even changed the batteries on my headlamp and I can’t make out anything on the card.
I have not opened this pack here and even after watching a video about people searching the McDonald’s packs I still have not been able to identify the cards inside. Not my expertise, so maybe I’m doing it wrong lol.
We may have jumped the gun on them being searchable, which if they cannot be that’s great news, but I’m curious to see what others think once packs are in hand.
Yes, they’re searchable. I’ve done it. It’s a pain in the ass but I was able to identify every pack. Dark room, bright point source light, shine through back of the top-right edge, see the HP and type, voila.
