I agree the print lines will almost certainly eliminate any possibility of a PSA 10.
I’m not as familiar with BGS but if it’s true that the print lines will lead to an automatic surface grade of no higher than 9, then I also agree with @kpod , that the top-to-bottom centering should lead to a centering sub-grade of 9.
Would subgrades of 9/10/10/9 lead to a BGS 9.5 or a BGS 9? If it’s the former, then I guess you’d have a shot at BGS 9.5 if the rest of the card is perfect.
If you had just the print lines and not the centering issue I think a BGS 9.5 would be a possibility, but as it stands I think you probably just have to come to terms with the fact that a PSA 9 or a BGS 9 is your best case scenario.
how much were those packs? im curious as to what pokerev charges but never check his site before theyre sold out. After they sell out he changes the price to 0 dollars
I 100% agree with that analysis. I am very aware a 9 is very possible and prob the minimum I could see it being graded, but who knows, I’m not a grader and honestly it’s going to come down to how many points they dock for those lines and tab bit of centering.
You can be hopeful, but despite all the complaints you see about professional grading services I think the companies are most consistent than you probably think. I have hundreds of PSA 10 holos but I’ve never had one with print lines. I’ve submitted my share of holos with print lines to PSA and none of them ever came back a 10. I assume BGS is consistent with it too. It’s really not that hard to spot print lines and I’m sure that looking for scratches and print lines on the holos is something graders at both companies are trained to look for.
And the centering is quite clearly off, notably so.
No, gem mint needs at least 3x 9.5 subgrades unless you have the below scenario.
I know you can get 3 10’s and 1 8.5 for a 9.5 overall grade. That happens only if the 8.5 is a surface subgrade.
Any sub can result in a final grade a full point higher if all other subs are 2 or more points higher. In some cases, the edges sub can bump a full point on the final with all other subs being 1.5 or more points higher but that is algorithm specific.
A couple of months back I almost purchased a BGS 8 that had sub-grades of 9/9.5/10/7. It had a 7 surface grade because the card had a giant dent (the card would have gotten a much lower rating with PSA).
I think a card can be be 1 full point higher than the lowest subgrade, rather than .5.
I personally think PSA would give the centering a pass since they do give a little bit a leeway but BGS not so much. They are pretty strict on their sub grades when it concerns like the difference between a 9.5-10. Print lines is a no no for both companies though
I have a couple 10s as well and your right. I’m just basing the chance part of their description on PSA for a gem mint 10 that states that there is an allowance for print lines that are unnoticeable. Which mine kinda are, idk its def a weird card based on the holo pattern. Def a stretch. I have a psa 8 1st edition lugia so I kinda have an idea of what expect. So I’m going to predict a 9 or 9.5. I’ll def have to update ya
I think i saw a psa 10 with print line i think it was TCA Gamings video the Venusaur promo card that he bought. I think there was like one or two horizontal ones. Its near the end of the video btw at 10:37
i guess it is now lol. i mean a Lugia and T17 PSA 10 are pretty close to that price so i guess your best chance at that PSA 10 has to be pretty close as well dontcha think?
I mean obviously its prob a 11 to 15k box, dude obviously used his own funds to set out and find one and to take all the risk. Dude deserves to make a profit, especially given all the wack Ebay sellers out there and sellers that reseal product
