So I have owned this card for a few years now. I bought this hoping one day Beckett would change their grading scale, we all know what happened with that.
The surface and edges are clear 10s
Corners could be either 9.5 or 10 but 9.5 is fair
CENTERING - this is my main issue. I have measured the centering to be better than at least 4 other base set 10s i could find, measured by pixels, used tools, etc. The centering should be a 10.
I think this card was kept as a 9.5++ for pop control reasons. My question is should I:
Do a Graded Card Review from BGS? Have they ever actually changed a centering grade?
Crossover to PSA since its clearly better than most PSA 10s?
Crack it (scary asf) and grade it with BGS hoping for a 10?
Wait and hope one day BGS attempts to update their grading scale again?
The centering may have been pre-2025 PSA 10 centering, but it’s not ever been BGS 10 centering so the likelihood of that subgrade getting bumped by Beckett is next to zilch. I’m hesitant to think if you did crack it out of the slab that PSA would grade it a 10 since their centering requirements for a 10 have really tightened up this year.
How do the corners look, any chance of Beckett bumping those to a 10?
Ive compared to other BGS 10 cenetering examples and its better than them though. Thats why i was considering.
My method using high quality auction house scans: Copy/paste 1 edge and flip it then drag it over to the opposite edge to see any difference. On 800% zoom of course
I honestly like it better as is than as a psa 10, thats why ive never tried to cross it. Id only cross to a psa 10 if i needed to sell. My main goal was hoping BGS updated their scale and gifted me a bgs 10. Almost happened in April 2024, maybe if they sell or get a new ceo it can happen for real.
Back is literally perfect. Cenetering true 50/50. There is 1 corner that has a tiny bit of extra material that is so small its hard to see without really focusing on it, but it is there so i understand why its not a 10 centering
