What’s this worth, curious for opinions?
First of all, it’s important to note that there are four different versions of this card: two types of holo finishes (cracked ice and flower holo), and two border colors (white and black). Personally, I prefer the flower holo and wouldn’t choose the cracked ice version. ^^
But it’s super rare in a PSA 10 because the card is super hard to grade… 2 other PSA 10 are for sale and they all have old certs including that one. The lowest one that is for sale is at $10.5k. I’d say it could go between 3k and 4k, even though it’s impossible to know.
welcome to the fourum ![]()
Yeh, they don’t distinguish holo effects or borders, it seems. So does anyone know if there is a black border at PSA10 or a flower holo? Ha!
Looks like you paid $5,000 USD for it. The most recent sale before that was less than half of that price at $2,247.
The most recent PSA 9 that sold was for $400, half of the previous sale of $810.
Seeing this, I think it should be worth between $2,000-$4,000.
When will Meiji be taken more seriously? The rarities are crazy. I’m in for the long term Logan Paul type deals, these cards are original characters in raw form.
How much more seriously do you expect people to treat these? $5k for a niche non-tcg card is already very high. At that price you’re already in a PSA 6 1st edition charizard / PSA 9 shadowless charizard territory.
Good luck OP. Hope something good comes of this. “Long term” and “Logan Paul type” deals seem a bit oxymoronic to me but I may just not be informed. This is an extremely niche item, and the number of people willing to pay 3, 4, 5 figures or more for cards necessarily dwindles the more niche the item becomes
Almost all of the early non TCG cards had their peak hype climb and drastic fall back to reality.
For Meiji, I think these types of cards will continue to be taken less seriously over time. Topsun Charizard would like to take the mic
All it takes is 1 person to just really want the card and has 10k to blow on it to double the sale price. But the reality is that person will be an exceptional outlier (just like the OP, who did just that). There’s unlikely to be a ton of people suddenly rushing to collect non-tcg Meiji cards. You can get a relatively clean non-PSA 10 copy dropshipped on ebay for under $200 Dwaaartz! Meiji Pokémon Get Card Prism Pikachu Movie No.34 Holo Rare Japanese | eBay. That shows the demand is really concentrated on a handful of people only interested in the PSA 10.
With a whopping one watcher too. Demand is pretty much that
Umm, based off this ebay listing, does anyone think there is a chance that the PSA 10 in the OP is trimmed? The borders are significantly smaller on the PSA 10 card.
31 times rarer than 1st edition psa 10 shadowless zard is going to be part of my vernacular going forward
Who let bro cook
If you’re looking to sell a card for a record price, maybe dont buy it at a record price
Buys card for record price and lists it for 75x as much. Makes new account to advertise on e4. All in ~ a month.

Speculating on cards is an abstract territory.
Conditional rarity is something that is basically taken as given for valuing cards at this time, an interesting concept. It matters, but with such a precise focus?
$5000 is quite a lot of money to tie up, depending on your general finances.
Some decent under 1000 supply cards go for less than $5000 these days.
There is a question of how much you bought this card because you wanted it to collect as opposed to an investment, it can be blurred in your mind.
Why did you post it here? If you buy something, is it for your own reasons without external validation for your decision?
If it was a bit of a rash purchase you could either sell it (perhaps even for a little loss) or decide to hold onto it for a long period (though with the acceptance of having tied up $5000).
The card itself. It is quite a niche set, the Charizard is main in focus but not the only Pokemon present. Personally this is the sort of card I would buy, but I would have preferred to pay $450 in 2020 than $5000 today (kind of a redundant statement and I am not sure what the prices were in 2020, but other niche cards experienced similar appreciation). There are still some other niche sets where they rarely turn up but when they do you can pay low $100s. One thing to take into account with these niche Japanese set cards with low pops, renewed interest and PSA having recently opened up an office in Japan means that the pop numbers are starting to get a little more traction.
And finally, how often for anyone is buying cards truly the best financial decision they can make?
Post that last sentence in the personal finance topic lmao
