All your comments are extremely competent and impressive. Tying up $5000 is not an issue, and really I am sitting with this in my Meiji collection with a big price on eBay that I feel reflects it’s astonishing rarity and although it is obviously niche, it is also an exquisitely old Zard. Someone suggested it is a liability, but I can’t agree with that, I would be shocked if it declined in value.
I came here for honest opinions on value, I’m not here to advertise, and frankly I can tell I would be in the wrong place!
It really is the world’s rarest Charizard at PSA10 though.
It is totally fine for you to love the card, and have it as part of your Meiji collection, and you are not lying by saying that it is a difficult card to come by in the grade you have it.
But you opened with ‘What’s this worth, curious for opinions?’ in contrast to what you have just said. It says to everyone that you are being disingenuous. All your responses make it seem like you just want to inflate the cards value because you’ve convinced yourself it should be worth more and want to convince others the same.
It’s the rarest PSA 10 Charizard in the world in the way that a base Charizard autographed by someone who isn’t Arita would be extremely rare. There are very few, but nobody’s buying?
This may be true, it is also an almost ubiquitous tendency among people and the decisions they make. It can be as simple as coping with your decision by seeking the validation of others, as well as trying to manipulate the prices higher. This can even be a subconscious action, as people automatically act in alignment with self interest. Perhaps there is less of a tendency when there is a greater feeling of security.
There are so many other pokemon related items I’d rather spend 5k on, however if you like the card and see a higher future value 5 - 10 years down the road, then that is all that matters in the end.
I really did not mean to seem disingenuous, there are some geniuses on this site, if I was going to fill a gov department with very clever people, I now know I would come here first! Haha! What a barrage of concepts about my motives! I take it innocently and don’t regret asking the question - I’m sorry if this rankled with some of you, I am aspergic and quite a clumsy operator because of it. I’ve graded 1000+ cards and occasionally I speculate on high value, sometimes they move on, sometimes they stay with me; I’m sure that’s like most of us here.
You said “What’s this worth, any opinions?” Obviously our replies are going to be market research. If you came off and just said “here is my new favorite Charizard card that I will cherish as I love Meiji releases” the replies would be the complete opposite.
The second option would be a way of hyping the card with plausible deniability I like it . I think the novel thing with this thread was with its honest transparency, people were able to read it seemingly accurately. I don’t see much of an issue.
If someone sees this thread and pays over $300,000 as a result… an interesting occurrence I suppose.
I personally own a Pop 2 PSA 10 Charizard card that is really nice. Your Charizard is definitely not the rarest PSA 10 zard out there Since mine has its pop twice lower than yours, I can sell mine to you for $10000 if you want, that’s a great oportunity ! And at least it has a new cert, that’s even better !
