Yugioh Misprints

Hey everyone, I was looking through the misprint thread and it reminded me of some old Yugioh misprints I had when I played. I tried to find information about it back then and now, and still don’t think I’ve seen an error like it, or at least don’t know how to look for it haha.

Here you go:

SPOILER: Click to show

As you can see, the Konami hologram is flying way up near the top of the card instead of the bottom right, I always thought it was pretty cool :blush:

If anyone has seen errors like this before I’d be interested to see them, as I’m not well informed on Yugioh cards, thank you!

Those are pretty cool!

I’ve seen yugioh cards with the incorrect eyes (gold for unlimited edition or silver for 1st edition);
I’ve seen yugioh cards with the eyes floating in the description, or on the side/bottom border;
but I haven’t seen any yugioh cards yet with the eyes at the top (as far as I can remember).

I don’t think they are particularly rare, but I personally haven’t seen them before. I will search for them, though. Perhaps I can find some.

You could try to contact underworld6667 on YouTube, he’s a huge yugioh misprint collector. To give you an idea, here is one of his video of almost four years ago:

I used to collect some easy to find misprints in the past, but currently I’m only a yugioh rarity collector: collecting one of each rarity that exist in yugioh. This includes OCG rarities and misprints, so I do come across other misprints pretty often in my search for the misprinted rarities I’m still missing. I currently have all TCG and OCG rarities, and all easy to find misprints as well as a few rarer ones. Only missing some very rare ones, like some No Names (No Name Ghost Rare, No Name Gold Rare, etc.), some Silver Rare errors (Ultra / Ultimate / Gold Rares with Silver name instead of Gold), and the Full Holo Super and Full Holo Ultra Rares (thin paper causing the foil to shine through, also known as holo bleed - which is also pretty common to find for English XY Evolution Pokémon holos).

EDIT: I rewatched the video I linked above, and he does have some cards similar to yours at 15:07 - 15:20 (although his has two eyes, both at the top and bottom).

Thanks for finding that video and even timestamping it haha. That’s an insane collection of misprints, I didn’t even realise so many different kinds existed in Yugioh.

I’m happy to finally see someone with something at least similar to what I have though :grin: .

Yeah, there are a lot more misprints in YuGiOh in comparison to Pokémon in my experience. Although I was personally surprised when I saw there are quite a few misprints with Pokémon as well, especially when I look at all those miscuts from @regigigagod

I have a great error sheet with several of the color bar cards which are two sided. Really awesome.

If any of you guys are over on the Instagram side of things, I would recommend checking out @yugiohmisprint. He has literally hundreds of them as well. Very unique and cool to look at just like Pokemon misprints.

I’m indeed following his Instagram for a while now. Very awesome collection as well. I’ve never seen so many off-center holos in one place. Some of them are totally insane.

I just picked up a trade binder with this in it:

The only thing rarer than a misprint is a relevant, playable misprint.

I have 2 yu gi oh error cards in one of my 5000 count boxes of Pokemon that has to be sorted.
I’ll try to find them, but if I remember correctly, one is a time wizard where the holo pattern is pretty off center
and the other is called salamandra, the name of the card was pressed in but the entire card is white. the back looks normal also.
Its a glossy white so its not peeled off or anything.
I have never been able to find another card similar to it, but I haven’t tried in at least a year.

To follow up with my post from before, I found that white card I was talking about.
It is in pretty poor condition, but I haven’t found one like it, and that is the way I got it in the collection I bought.

It doesn’t look like just a blank test print, there is the name of a card pressed into the top where it should be that can be seen in picture 2.
(Salamandra)

I planned to get it graded just to make sure it is a real card, this thing is really REALLY rough.

You can actually recreate this type of thing yourself. Back when I used to play Cardfight vanguard I used to de-ink my bulk to use a proxies. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone did the same with this.

What are the signs of something being deinked or the process?

Hey! I also have a Rare error card, but sadly in the poorest of the condition. My brother and I tried to take it from each other too many times… Any know what it would be worth?

Yugioh error card

It depends. Generally the gloss of the white goes if done to much all 4 edges and corners would be damaged unless you either god like or very careful. I used two methods which I won’t disclose since I don’t want anyone to try and make money from it but when I get time ill grab a couple of my yugioh cards for you and post the results.

I got one of these in a pack from the gas station when I was a kid.

Do you still have it? or you sell it? I remember getting in a starter deck, but I never checked to see what card was missing!

No I don’t have it anymore. I think they are called test print or color strip cards. there is usually a few listings on eBay for them
