Found some errors/ink defects in old bulk!

I’ve recently been sorting through cards I left in binders from collections I bought when I first started collecting again two years ago. I used to only take rares and holos out and left everything else, usually without even looking at it. I had no idea about errors and misprints or anything like that when alot of this stuff was bought. I had like 15ish binders and one 5000 count cardboard box to go through. The box is done and like 5 binders are done. You know sometimes in binder pages there will be like 10 (sometimes more) of a card shoved in one slot. So here is some stuff I was stoked to find!

This random base 2 super potion that’s got this fossil haunter ink smear type deal going on:

A “d edition” butterfree! First one I’ve ever owned too! I may grade it, maybe a 9?

This fossil graveler with some sort of ink drop shenanigans going on on the border!

And a base set unlimited nidoran male that looks like the ink (all colors on card) was running low. Its like super light compared to a normal one (it’s not a UK 1999-2000). I forgot to take a picture of it but will later.

So if you have some stuff you have sitting around you havent looked at, make some time to do it! You never know what kind of cool stuff you’ll unearth!

In continuing to sort through the binders mentioned about above in the first post, here’s what I’ve found in the last two days!

And I never supplied a picture of that light printed nidoran I mentioned in the first post, I cant find what the heck I did with it…

I found this recycle from fossil that has a completely different shade of green then a normal one (the one on the right is the normal one), the jigglypuff in the art is different colored too, the eyes match the background in each. Anyone ever experienced this phenomenon before? Perhaps it’s normal? First time I’ve ever seen this going on though.

This grimer from fossil with some kind of ink malfunction happening center stage. The ink blob disrupting the line has like a perfect circle around it, its the same size as the energy symbols. Pretty cool!

This fighting energy with a random chunk of border that’s lighter then the rest!

This may be my favorite I’ve found yet! This reverse holo master ball from EX deoxys that is holo bleed through the whole card including the border! This thing is stellar looking! Has anyone else ever seen a reverse from deoxys with full card holo bleed? Before this one I never had before. If it’s a rare occurance then that freaking rules!

This gastly from fossil with the yellowish/orange ink smear! This is the 5th ink smear/spot (or whatever you wanna call it) error fossil card I’ve come across in collecting!

My phone cant capture it but to the naked eye it’s obvious. The pikachu on the right is like blurry (just the pikachu in the artwork). The lines are kinda fuzzy like and it just isn’t clear and crisp like a normal one like the one on the left. Think of it like watching on old VHS on a 1992 zenith tube TV vs. Watching a blue ray on a brand new HD Samsung flat screen. Ever seen this before @quuador?

This isn’t an error, but I came across a UK 1999-2000 maintenance! I’ve only ever came across a handful of this base set print run in my collecting. (P.S. notice my cat lurking in the background)

It has been a true delight to sort through all this stuff and find all these radical anomalies! It may be simple or unexciting to some, but finding errors and misprints gets me super duper jazzed! I’ve got 5 or so more binders to go through, I’ll be kinda bummed when its over… I’ll post more when/if i find them!

Nice update again. It’s cool that you found so many error/interesting cards just randomly browsing through your collection. I especially like the holo bleed EX Deoxys card.

As to answer your first question regarding the color differences of the Recycle: color differences happened pretty often during the WotC era (and it actually still does). If we take a look at (almost) all my Base Pikachu for example, you see loads of differences in shades. And I’ve also seen color differences with booster packs, and even early Japanese cards.

As for the Pikachu, I’m not really seeing any difference in that picture… I guess you’re referring to double printing like this (but less extreme)?

Greetz,
Quuador

Yeah it’s been really fun!

Ahhh gotcha about the recycle, I too have noticed booster packs being different shades.

And yeah I guess it perhaps must be double printed. I’m not sure why my phone isn’t able to pick it up. But thanks for all the info! I appreciate all the gleanble knowledge!

I found this jungle rhyhorn that has a green print line running vertically up the card! I call this the “vertical green line rhyhorn error”…

Look at the description for this card hahahaha. “It can easily knock a trailer flying”, what the heck is that talking about?? I picture this scumhole trailer park out in the Nevada desert and this dude just comes ripping through destroying everything

Well I finally finished sorting last night! I’m all caught up now. Here is the one and only thing I found last night. The super popular and highly sought after white dot charmeleon!

I’ve gone through probably 10k+ bulk in the past month and the only “error” I’ve found was a light border Good Manners. It’s crazy how many you’ve found!

Edit: Speak of the devil…

That one is actually more well-known and not a one-of-a-kind occurrence. Some more examples as well as a 1st edition one (not mine btw).

Nice Gastly!

@quuador, Cool! I wonder why that is. I’m sure there’s not any worth to it but it’s definitely interesting.

I found this “Dark” Dark Slowbro which seems to have been a little heavy on the black ink with a few printing discrepancies on the bottom & top right areas:
