Wow this thread really took off! In all sorts of directions haha! Thank you everyone for your help and concern. I most definitely am a serious buyer. Chasing the market upwards at this point it seems. But that’s okay! Lex and I were in talking over one he had for sale a few days ago and he sold! Haha good for him though. By the way Lex is one of the best sellers I’ve ever worked with on EBay. He’s a good guy. Getting to the point though, yes I would have to say the card does look in good shape based on the two pictures. It’s probably not enough info though to make an educated guess, so I will have to ask for more. As far as the whole OC vs wear and tear debate goes though that would be totally personal. I think I’m leaning towards having an OC card in better condition though myself because in the end it was a manufacturer error rather than someone being hard on the card. I might go for this one, and I am in contact with the seller now. Will update soon!!

i’m glad we have PSA/BGS to tell us an official number. I can’t imagine if this forum had existed pre-PSA/BGS. I would love for a PSA employee (current or past) to shed some light on how they grade the less mint cards. I think it’s fairly easy to grade psa 9 and 10, but anything 7 and lower is tough…
Nope, I bought it. I was hoping to do so in way that would maximally benefit BCZards (and, otherwise, me) given the probability it could be snatched because it was the only copy available. But we’ll see how this deal shakes out; it could have a Shakespearean twist. I’ll let you know!

$2400 on a 7? One just ended on 11/15 for $1525…that’s a big price jump in 5 days lol

But apparently most recently two sold for 2200 and 2000, respectively, and the last sale before the one at $1525 was approximately $1800.
$1525 was below the price trend (and perhaps a lucky auction). $2000+ (or a premium on a 7 that meets a buyer’s specifications, such as a thick stamp and particular defects or lack thereof) does not seem too surprising (to me at least, but feel free to offer your thoughts).

Those are some nice options. Any guesses on where that 8 is gonna go?? I watched that 9 shadowless go for 2000 recently and I thought for sure it would do 2500 at least.

No, for the most part that’s what happened. He has offered to sell it to me now for what it was listed for, but unfortunately I had a deal with the seller for a couple hundred that is no longer available to me. . Lex says he bought it in order to snag it up for me just in case someone else bought it. With the intention of selling it for the same price, and if I didn’t want it to re-list for more. But yeah it was a little wierd. I’m choosing to see lex’s actions as good intentions though at this point. He has been nothing but supportive.
At this point it’s hard to guess. With also the PWCC auctions coming up, some buyers may lose their attention to PSA 9s and you’ll have better chances next week.
