All most people need to know is I’ve been pregrading since 1995. Over 20 years I’ve actually used a more detailed style. The main thing that stands out is how amazingly consistent they’ve been with only a minor hiccup in 2003.
In other words, the results today are beautifully in line with how they’ve always been.
If you think that’s a dumb statement, realize that there is nothing inherently valuable about cardboard. The reason why any of it is worth anything is because of the value we ascribe to it. It’s called a market for a reason. Markets ebb and flow with the times and you have no control over it unless you’re the biggest fish in the pond. You have to swim with the current to survive.
It’s telling that the 4XXXX cert big brain logic seems to be exclusive to lower end cards.
The higher the price, the more likely an individual has the capacity to use his own logic and access a card for its weaknesses and strengths rather than a grade (or cert number LOL)
such a childish thread. Zork earnt his own money, he can spend it how he wants.
even if he bought the card just to take a dump on it, who are we to judge how he wants to spend his own money.
Shocker that someone with limited funds is picked on for being particular in a group where elitism and ego run rampant. Way to prove the stereotype true buddy. Sorry, not everyone has hundreds of thousands of dollars to invest. And everyone starts somewhere. I learned a lot from this thread. And I’m thankful for everyone’s input which helps my knowledge grow.
For people like me, we need to move with the market, not what makes sense. If the market decides 4xxxx’s are valuable, we are leaving money on the table with a 2xxxx if we ever decide to resell.
4 cert or 2 cert, I’m sure you’ll make decisions based on actual detailed pictures of the card. Buy the card, not the cert. I’ve seen 4 cert 9s that look horrible and 2 cert 9s that look gem mint.
Yeah man. A guy on eBay with <70 feedback will be believed and get max value out of their card because they make a title that says “strong 9” and the 15 pictures they take of the card in all angles as opposed to a bigger guy with 5000+ seller feedback who everyone already knows and trusts with 2 photos. Surely that’s how it works.
That’s why the other PSA 9 is still up despite being 60 bucks cheaper than the auction. Makes total sense. You’re truly a visionary.
That’s great. The problem is the attitude of several members when trying to voice their opinion, as Zork stated, there’s a certain “elitisim” in the way some users here post their “facts”.
Yes. I agree. But are all the largest PSA submitters all of those who buy PSA cards? For you guys, this is fine. You’re large movers and have your name widespread. For everyone else, not so much.
Is someone more likely to believe me if I say I have a “strong 9” or would they believe me more if the common consensus is that 4xxxxx’s are graded tougher? For you, the market believes you. For me? Collectors will rely on the 4xxxx
