I guess what the buyer wants to say is that the card was graded long ago due to that the cert number starts with a 2. For some reason the buyer also seem to imply that this would make the card to be worth less
A lot of people say PSA was less strict back then. I don’t agree but Most cards with that serial number range do tend to look weaker on the back compared to cards graded now. regardless a 9 is a 9 and 10s are 10s in 99.9% of cases imo.
Yup, he’s right. Your card is technically PSA 0 because of the old cert. Might as well throw it in the trash, loser. I’ll do you a favour and buy it for 5 Zimbabwean dollar.
People have the idea that since PSA have gotten stricter (at least it seems), more recent graded 10’s are more valuable than older 10’s. I do think that it’s bs though, and it’s just people trying to buy stuff at lower prices. I think your response posted in the thread is appropriate.
The buyer is probably looking for a way to pay way less for your card. Since the buyer couldn’t find anything on the card to talk it down, it goes after something else. I personally wouldn’t waste too much of my time on such a person; they’re not going to buy that card, unless they get it for an absolute steal.
It will be funny to see all the weak graded cards from the past year or so end up on the market in due time and then the new trend will be to say they only want a cert with 5xxxxx because the 4’s were weaker.
Just a guy trying to get something cheaper on ebay. Add that to the list of; “Its not worth that much”, the offer lower than the last sold and say, “The last one sold for X amount”. Oh and my personal favorite offer message on my items, “this is a fair price”.
Yea the whole “stricter” thing is a bit nonsense. Just look at the card and decide if it’s strong or weak. If you get a card recased does the cert # change?
