Would like your opinion

Hey there

So I would like your opinion regarding something from an investment point of view.

I have a charizard base unweighed pack, which I solely collect, and a sealed japanese Flash Fire booster box, both at same price.

To me, I really am enjoying the Japanese Flash Fire art on the box and the packs so much, and lately I have been really drawn to the unique Japanese art which is on their packs generally, just beautiful!

Yet, I can not make up my mind regarding either from an investment point of view also, as my budget is limited to buy one for now.

So what is your opinion and advice.

Thanks and cheers

What you should invest is in Greninja as it is a fact that it is the #1 pokemon (out ranking charizard) in the world

Greninja FTW

Can I ask how exactly you know that? I knew it was high but #1?

Buy what you like most. If you legitimately can’t decide then just buy both.

Haha Pokémon deciding what Pokémon is the best reminds me of the meme saying the human brain decided that the human brain is the most complex thing in the universe.
But do you know how they decided that? Polls?

Pokemon didnt decide, it was voted

Personally I would go with the Charizard Base pack.

@pancakestak I have been thinking the same thing for awhile now haha. The Shining Tyranitar isn’t my favorite but it’s in my top 3-5 which is a shame a great card turned info a meme. Couldn’t have picked a Steam Siege card or something for the meme haha. As far as which is a better investment. Just buy things you like. Watch some videos. Learn some things about the hobby. Buying for only financial gain is never a smart idea. Especially because you said limited budget. What if your investment card of box etc goes missing in the mail when you sell IT? Or gets damaged? Not trying to talk you out of anything it’s your money. But just try to make smart decisions with your income and try to collect things you like for the long term. Even if long term intention is selling it’s much smarter to hold for decades. Don’t plan on buying things to hold for only a few months. Yes if you bought things a few months ago. There would be instant profit now but it will be much less then whatever you would have got if you held for 10 plus years even 20. There’s no garentee on anything in this hobby. Best of luck tho but don’t let other people choose what to buy for you @green Collector

Tried to tag you. My response is above. Just trying to steer you in the right direction

Kinda surprised pikachu didn’t make the list. And Glaceon, yuck, jolteon is way better.

Let’s be very clear about something: The survey results of Pokemon fans who have enough motivation to find and complete this survey are not representative of who the most popular Pokemon is with the public at large. The fact that Pikachu is not even listed in the top 10 should make that clear enough.

And to go back to original post. If you’re not a known seller not abunch of people are going to trust buying 1 single “unweighted booster pack” almost garentee someone is going to sell you a light packs unless you’re buying off TCA Gaming. Poke Rev. Or someone well known. Z and G Emporium. As for Japanese Flash fire the price will most likely go up but besides unique promos and trophies I havnt heard of any dramatic growth in modern Japanese. Maybe if you hold for along time but I’m guessing you’re looking for a “quick flip” and neither of the two options are a quick flip

Imo go for the Agumon artwork pack. He was voted the best yu-gi-oh character of all time.

As someone who has recently re-evaluated their current collection goals and made a few changes i can’t emphasise how important buying what you like the most is!

Recently I was burned out with so many resealed WOTC booster packs and ive turned my attention to buying japanese boosters and cards and the difference is night and day!

For example I have a fair few loose base set charizard packs and don’t get me wrong I love the art and I appreciate its role in the hobby but its spends most of its time wrapped in sleeves in a box.

Whereas with the recent japanese cards and packs I’ve bought I find myself constantly looking at them and really getting that collectors feel back when I have them in my hand.

This in turn makes it much harder for me to part with the japanese product therefore making it a much better investment for me as it would take alot more money for me to part with them than it would a base set booster pack.

If you buy what you enjoy then you’ll keep it for longer and like nearly everything in pokemon its price will go up!

You have somehow summarized the dilemma or feeling I have! Exactly describing it, to the extent I didn’t notice doing the strange habit of looking at my Japanese collection rather than the English counterpart!

The art is just there! It is just there and a beauty to look at, and I am taking mainly about the outside pack, not the cards even! Hence, due to my prior knowledge of how base/“vintage sets” go up and just up, should I collect the one w the one closer to my heart as Japanese one or the other which is now partly close yet w a closer investment value, as WOTC?

Thank you so much for your opinion, and at least I feel someone is out there having the same conflict of feeling I am going through
