Wondering when the next time we’ll see numbers similar to Covid/the boom again.
I think it will probably be in 4-6 years but who knows. I’m hoping it’s at least that so I can complete some collection goals before things are way out of price range.

well covid was worldwide stuck inside w/free government money and nothing else to spend it on. PSA shut down and influencers all decided to pump at once. People were drinking bleach…
pokemon go was a fun game. Covid was people legitimately acting like a south park episode

When I got back into Pokémon in 2020 vs the prices I paid for things in 2017 was astronomical. That’s a just a three year difference
English is honestly having another moment, just not to the same degree as covid. Japanese has been cooling down a whole lot.
Honestly it is easy to just assume another boom across the board will happen during the 30th but no one really knows. Even if another boom does happen, don’t expect it to be on the same level as covid.

Booms post-2020 are pretty specific (e.g., waifus; Japanese modern promos; English alt arts; etc.). I think it’s more likely that these very specific boosts in attention / demand accrue over time, rather than one black swan event that shoots everything to the moon.
I wouldn’t worry about what the future holds. Just try your best and you’ll meet your goals one step at a time. Most goals in this hobby can be accomplished with money and / or time.
If you don’t have enough money, then time might help with that through saving or selling off portions of your collection to fund larger purchases. If you don’t have access to the card (i.e., it’s rare and very infrequently shows up for sale), the only thing that you can do is wait and hope that it will surface with enough time. When that time comes, be ready to the best of your ability.
And most importantly, remember to enjoy what you currently have rather than worrying about what you will / won’t be able to get in the future.
