why is it called lily pad mew?

Because of the rock its on.
The less snarky answer is that for a long time the rock its on was identified as a lily pad partially in water due to the coloring and the name stuck as an identifier

Recently came back from Japan and would like to share my purchases from this trip. Spent 3 weeks in the real life Hoenn region (Kyushu & Okinawa) and was able to find some great stuff there.
In general, I was unfortunately unable to make progress on my VS Series binder, as I did not find a single card that I was still missing. In general, the vintage selection was not as good as in other parts of Japan. Especially old back cards where really hard to find or completely overpriced and/or in bad condition. As everywhere, many shops carried mostly modern cards. I am not really a modern collector but found some nice modern cards for decent prices. All of the modern cards are basically in Near Mint to Mint condition. If anybody is interested in some more details, prices, locations or anything else, just let me know. But enough with the talking, let’s start with the pick ups.
My favorite purchase on this trip was this E-Series Alakazam in basically Near Mint condition. When I first saw it I imagined it to be damaged but was surprised how good the condition is.
Another card from the same set is the Dragonite. This one isn’t really in good condition still I decided to pick it up as it was a good deal in my opinion.
Found some great Gen 3 holo cards as well. I especially like the Dark Houndoom from Rocket Gang Strikes Back.
Some more vintage cards, all Non Holo. The Voltorb is the first No Rarity card that I own.
Some cards from the XY era. I love the artwork and holo pattern of the Growlithe.
Found this interesting Pikachu card. If I am honest I have never seen this card before. It’s from a Half Deck and as far as I could find out a Japanese exclusive. Really great find.
Now onto some modern cards. Legends Arceus is my favorite modern Pokemon game and I decided to pick up some cards related to the game, mainly Full Art Trainers. It’s crazy how much they went down in price. I remember in 2022 the Arezu was way over 4,000 Yen in most stores, even this year in May it was mostly between 2,000 and 3,000 Yen. I got my copy now for 1,100 Yen which shows how affordable those cards got.
Some more modern Full Art Trainers. I love the Furisode Girl, this was one of the few modern cards I was really on the lookout for. Gives me such an amazing Gen II/Ecruteak City vibe.
I could not believe how cheap some of the SWSH Alt Arts have become, I just could not pass those up. Also two really nice looking Art Rares.
Another card for the Feraligatr collection and some more modern cards.
Some packs I picked up at the Pokemon Center in Okinawa.
This thread inspired me to buy some more Pokemon sleeves. I really love those, especially the one inspired by the Hoenn Generations EX deck is amazing. Speaking about those decks, I got the Kanto version of the deck itself.
At the Pokemon Center Okinawa I got this exclusive Pikachu plushie.
Another main collection of mine are Nintendo video games, especially handhelds. I was able to find some nice DS games (was especially on the lookout for Pokemon Platinum). In general the selection for Gameboy games was really not that great, my only pickup was Mario Picross 2, which is a Japanese exclusive game. I also found loose N64 carts of Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 (I think the first one is also a Japanese exclusive). I also was able to pick up a white Nintendo DS Lite.
This mainly concludes my pickups from this trip. Sorry for the long post and thanks everybody for reading. As a bonus, here is a little figure I got from a JR Kyushu gashapon machine.

Thanks! It took me some time to figure out how to display them, I’m super pleased with how it looks now. I always saw graded cards displayed on holders but never liked the look.
You raise a good point on the labels. I’ll probably end up updating them on a yearly basis.

Won this yesterday, just waiting for Fanatics to take my money. Spent a bit more than what I was hoping for, but it’s the final piece to my Unlimited PSA 10 Neo Shining set. Very happy and @Dyl yes, very relieved to have completed my biggest goal of the last two years.
Starting another one of my 2025 goals, finishing up my PSA 9 1st Ed Team Rocket set. One of my favorite sets.
Few other purchases or trades. With the Jolteon Vmax, now just need the 3 V promos to finish my set.
