FINALLY finished my VS collection. It’s was my small goal for 2024 and nice to get it done! Thanks to KimmysCards and PokemonSteven in AUS for the last one: Jolteon.
Congratulations. Completing VS is a great accomplishment. Would love to see the fully complete set in all it’s glory in your collection thread sometime. Thanks for sharing.

It was killer getting them in true NM. The hardest was definitely Surge’s Raichu, ironically. IDK why, but conditions on that were just trash, and everyone wanted graded card prices… I think Jasmine’s Steelix is another tough one, raw, but I lucked out on it. I included most of it in my artist pages, so it’ll appear there eventually.

Ha that was gonna be my next question! I’m working on a binder myself slowly but surely at the moment and the main thing taking up the time is waiting for those auctions/occasional BIN listings to appear that give you the chance to buy the card at 30% of the price of the next BIN listing (which is in acceptable condition). Has that been your approach to collecting VS too?

I also cracked a few CGC slabs CGC 8 and 7 were homeruns for both Steelix, and Wills jynx, I think… So many listings for these have decent edges, but scratches like they were drug through the sand.

Went to a card/collectables show today. There were around 80 vendors.
I like looking through the vintage bulk. I wasn’t expecting to find much but I cam across one stall which had a box just for English WOTC. I sorted through that and got myself 64 1st Editions from Jungle up to Neo.
After a while, another vintage collector came by and we helped each other find cards that we were both looking for. It was a lot of fun chatting about our favourite cards and our collection.
After I had finished looking through the bulk I picked up a couple of cards from the cabinet which I didn’t already have. A Mew Ex for a few dollars. I don’t collect new cards but I always liked this artwork.
And then a beautiful Lugia and Ho-oh that are in fantastic condition. Just the usual scuff marks on the Lugia holo surface. These two were my big purchase of the day and I am very happy to have them.
