What card-type do you like best? This can be because of colour, cards with great artwork or, anything.
Despite liking Ice-types best, for me it’s Fire and Steel/Metal cards. With these card-types I often like the whole card, not just the artwork. An example is this Ho-oh. I like both variants (double holo and normal) because they both bring something different and match very well with the rest of the card. I also like what they did with the Fire-energy symbols that form a flame-like structure making Ho-oh look even more menacing.
My favorites are . 3rd place for colorless! Since I was a kid, I always enjoyed what they represent and I generally resonate better with Pokemon designs from these types.
I’d say I tend towards Colorless, Darkness, Leaf and Water. Fire, Lightning and Steel at a solid number 2. Fighting and especially Psychic are my least favorite and the only two where I often feel they take away from the card but it really depends. I’m not a fan of Dual or Delta type layouts except for TMTA. Modern monstrosities like Dragon and Fairy are thankfully after my time.
Yeah, Dark in Neo is awesome as well. With Steel I also mainly like the Neo 1, 2 and 3 Steel cards. After that they changed it, making the Steel come out less. The Steelix from Neo Genesis is my favourite in that regard.
Big Stadium Card guy. I have an entire binder dedicated just to stadium cards. I just love how most of them depict battle locations and unique areas in all different regions of the Pokemon universe. I probably fell in love with these with the Aquapolis and Skyridge sets because I love how these cards depict an area that is exclusive to the TCG universe. Also including a pic of my favorite stadium card I hope to own one day.
I can’t think of a specific type but a species came to mind. I’m impartial to Umbreon as a Pokemon but there are so many Umbreon cards I would like for my collection. I guess I just like the contrast of the dark background and the red eyes/yellow on Umbreon
As a kid, I always liked the Crystal-Type cards, mostly because they were so unique. Here the one I pulled as a kid (Kingdra), next to the one my little brother pulled (Nidoking):
These days, Poison is my favorite type, although unfortunately they don’t have their own Energy. It’s funny to see them switching the Poison-Type over time however. It was Grass-Type up to EX Power Keepers; then Psychic-Type from Diamond & Pearl to Cosmic Eclipse; and currently Darkness-Type from Sword & Shield onward:
If I had to pick a favorite from the actual Types however, it’s probably Lightning. The three Pokémon I had the most of as a kid were Pikachu, Magnemite, and Voltorb, so it’s filled with nostalgia; I’m also collecting Pikachu as an adult; from the Eeveelutions, Jolteon has always been my favorite; and there are a bunch of other Lightning-Type Pokémon I like a lot as well, like Joltik, Raikou, Zeraora, Magnemite, etc.
