The october/november boom honestly seemed to mostly be about base set and its variants, maybe some other wotc sets. Recently I’ve noticed a big uptick in pretty much anything post-wotc. Promos/ultra rares/etc have all shot up so high. I think that shows how healthy the market is since all the tides are being lifted
Haven’t purchased YET, but I’m getting dangerously close to purchasing a modern FA trainer for way more than I feel I should. Hopefully I come to my senses or it sells soon.
Sorry that this is kinda market discussiony but I figured I should continue the conversation
@randox Definitely, I purchase raw cards for grading and I just looked at my ebay purchase history over the last 6 months and I haven’t purchased a single wotc card. Mostly been hitting up exes/primes/lv xs/full art bw exes/etc. because cards from base aren’t really worth buying raw anymore. Why bother trying to procure a mint condition shadowless poliwrath when a base unlimited poliwrath, which is significantly less rare(even just by PSA pops alone the unlimited is like 4x more in a 9 and we know shadowless is even more rare than that compared to unlimited) sells for half the price of the shadowless
I think sometimes what I regret is maybe overpaying for an item I really want. But I think as a high end product collector its important to remember that when dealing with high value items, they’re high value for a reason. And most of the time you won’t be able to “get them for a steal”. Every now and then you get lucky and stumble upon a great deal. But now a days that is far and few in between. Because of places like ebay, etc when people look at buying/selling/trading/collecting products they look at nothing but the value of the item.
