I wish I could remember. Tempted to say Poliwrath but I think in reality I’ve no idea.
I can still verryyyyy vaguely remember my first pack. I was shopping with my mum, and there was a Jungle booster in the bargain bin, due to it’s barcode not scanning properly or something. I remember being so excited, I opened it before we got back to the car, and it had a holo Flareon. Funnily enough, this is also the story of my first erection.
My first pack after getting back into the hobby years later was just as magical. I bought a pack while waiting for my girlfriend to finish work. It was a Platinum Arceus pack, and I pulled a colorless Arceus, and a holo Zapdos in the same pack. It was a downward spiral from that moment onwards.

No idea what was in it but I clearly remember my first pack being an unlimited base set zard pack back in like 1999, were 1ed base packs available in the UK for any period of time?

Base set Pidgeotto! I pulled this out my first pack of pokemon cards ever when Base was still the only set out 
. This is the exact same one I pulled that day, it somehow managed to survive that entire time without getting traded lost or destroyed .
My first holo was a 1/e Base Machamp from the starter deck that I bought the next day. No idea what happened to that one lol, I have a few copies of that card now including a shadowless one but I’m very certain that they aren’t the same copy
